Tracy Fleury is a Canadian curler from Sudbury, Ontario. She joined the Rachel Homan rink as skip for the 2022–23 season, and now plays third on the team. With Homan, she won the 2024 Scotties Tournament of Hearts and will represent Canada at the 2024 World Women's Curling Championship. In 2021, she led her team to a silver medal at the 2021 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. She has competed at the Canadian national championship seven times and was the Northern Ontario women's junior champion skip from 2005 to 2007.

The 2009 SaskTel Tankard was held February 4–8 at the Meadow Lake Curling Club in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. The winning team, skipped by Joel Jordison, represented Saskatchewan at the 2009 Tim Hortons Brier in Calgary.

It marked the sixth time the Brier had been to Halifax, and the second time in eight years, having previously hosted the 2003 Nokia Brier.

The 2011 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts was the 2011 edition of the Ontario provincial women's curling championship. It was held January 24–30 at the Thornhill Golf and Country Club in Thornhill, Ontario. The winning team of Rachel Homan represented Ontario at the 2011 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The team finished round robin play with a record of 8-3, where they defeated Nova Scotia in the 3-4 page playoff game, but were unsuccessful in the semi-final losing against Saskatchewan, and then losing the Bronze Medal Game to team Nova Scotia.

The 2011 Dominion of Canada Northern Ontario Provincial Men's Curling Championship was held February 6–13 at the Fort William Curling Club in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The winning team of Brad Jacobs represented Northern Ontario at the 2011 Tim Hortons Brier in London, Ontario.

The 2013 M&M Meat Shops Canadian Junior Curling Championships were held from January 31 to February 10 at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre at MacDonald Island Park and at the Oilsands Curling Club in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Alberta last hosted the junior championships in Calgary in 2011. The winners will represent Canada at the 2013 World Junior Curling Championships in Sochi, Russia.

The 2014 M&M Meat Shops Canadian Junior Curling Championships were held from January 18 to 26 at the Queens Place Emera Centre and the Liverpool Curling Club. The winners represented Canada at the 2014 World Junior Curling Championships in Flims, Switzerland.

Amanda Gates is a Canadian curler who currently coaches the Abby Deschene rinks on the World Curling Tour. Gates used to play with Team Tracy Fleury and in 2015, Team Horgan became the first women's team in the history of women's curling to represent Northern Ontario at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. In Gates' first appearance at the Scotties, she won the Marj Mitchell Sportsmanship Award.

The Fort William Curling Club is a curling club located in the Downtown Fort William neighbourhood of Thunder Bay, Ontario. The club hosted the Canadian men's curling championship in 1960 and the Canadian women's curling championship in 1969. It is also the home club of World Men's curling champions Al Hackner, Rick Lang, Bob Nicol, Bruce Kennedy, Ian Tetley, and Pat Perroud.

Trevor Nevin Marcel Bonot is a Canadian curler who lives in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Bonot was raised in Stratton, Ontario. Bonot played for Team Canada and won a medal at a World Mixed Curling Championships (2017).
