The End is an upcoming apocalyptic musical film directed and co-written by Joshua Oppenheimer.
A wealthy family lives in an underground bunker two decades after the end of the world, which they directly contributed to.
It was announced in October 2021 that Joshua Oppenheimer had set his next film at Neon, with Tilda Swinton, George MacKay and Stephen Graham set to star. [1] In March 2023, Moses Ingram, Michael Shannon, Bronagh Gallagher, Tim McInnerny and Lennie James joined the cast, with Graham replaced by Shannon. [2] Shannon plays the patriarch of the family in the bunker, and he both sings and dances in the role. [3]
Filming began in Ireland in March 2023, with production also set to occur in Italy and Germany. [4] [2] The production received €480,000 in funding from Eurimages. [5]

During the film awards season in early 2020, costume designer Sandy Powell wore a cream calico toile two-piece suit of her own design, and collected celebrities' autographs on it in permanent marker. The suit was then auctioned to raise funds for the purchase of artist, filmmaker and gay rights activist Derek Jarman's cottage at Dungeness in Kent, England. The suit was bought by Edwina Dunn, who then donated it to the Theatre and Performance Collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London. In April 2022 the suit featured in an episode of the BBC Two series Secrets of the Museum.
