International Children's Film Festival India (ICFFI), popularly known as the Golden Elephant, is a festival conducted every two years which is aimed to bring together national and international children's cinema to young audiences in India. [1] [2]

CFSI and the Film Festival

Children's Film Society which was formed in 1955 organizes the festival. The society is currently chaired by Mukesh Khanna [3] .

Childrens Film Society

Children's Film Society India (CFSI) is a nodal organisation of Government of India that produces children's films and various TV programs in various Indian languages. Established in 1955, CFSI functions comes under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India and is headquartered in Mumbai.

Mukesh Khanna Indian actor

Mukesh Khanna is an Indian television and film actor best known for his portrayal of Shaktimaan in the titular Doordarshan television serial, and Bhishma Pitamah in B. R. Chopra's Mahabharat. He was also the chairman of Children's Film Society India from which he resigned in February 2018.

International Children's Film Festival India 2017

The 20th edition of the festival took place from 8 to 14 November 2017 in Hyderabad. The festival had four competition sections: International Live Action, Asian Panorama, International Animation and Little Directors, where international and national films compete for the prestigious Golden Elephant Trophies and cash awards. The festival also screened non-competition sections including Children's World that showcased films from across the world.

The theme for the festival was “Digital India” [4] – keeping in touch with the digital revolution now touching children’s lives and also staying abreast with the times. This edition received the highest number of entries — 1,204 from 80 countries. [5] In 2013, there were 894 from 48.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley unveiled a mobile app for the festival on the inaugural day. The arts, crafts and cultural village of Shilparamam in Hyderabad was a set for screenings of children's movies in multiple venues in the city. [6]

61st Berlin International Film Festival 2011 film festival edition

The 61st annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from 10 to 20 February 2011, with actress Isabella Rossellini as the President of the Jury. The Coen Brothers film True Grit opened the festival. 300,000 tickets were sold in total during the event, to 20,000 attendees from 116 countries, including 3900 members of the press. German actor Armin Mueller-Stahl received the Honorary Golden Bear for lifetime achievement. The Golden Bear for Best Film went to the Iranian film Nader and Simin, A Separation, directed by Asghar Farhadi, which also served as the closing film at the festival.

63rd Berlin International Film Festival Film festival

The 63rd annual Berlin International Film Festival took place in Berlin, Germany between 7 and 17 February 2013. Chinese film director Wong Kar-wai was announced as the President of the Jury and his film The Grandmaster was the opening film of the festival. The Golden Bear was awarded to the Romanian film Child's Pose directed by Călin Peter Netzer, which also served as the closing film.

64th Berlin International Film Festival 2014 film festival edition

The 64th annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from 6 to 16 February 2014. Wes Anderson's film The Grand Budapest Hotel opened the festival. British film director Ken Loach was presented with the Honorary Golden Bear. The Golden Bear was awarded to the Chinese film Black Coal, Thin Ice directed by Diao Yinan, which also served as closing film.

65th Berlin International Film Festival Film festival

The 65th annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from 5 to 15 February 2015, with American film director Darren Aronofsky as the President of the Jury. German film director Wim Wenders was presented with the Honorary Golden Bear. The first seven films of the festival were announced on 15 December 2014. Isabel Coixet's Nobody Wants the Night was announced as the opening film.

66th Berlin International Film Festival 2016 film festival edition

The 66th Berlin International Film Festival was held from 11 to 21 February 2016, with American actress Meryl Streep as the President of the Jury. The Honorary Golden Bear for lifetime achievement was presented to German cinematographer Michael Ballhaus. Hail, Caesar!, directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, was selected to open the festival. The Golden Bear was awarded to the Italian documentary Fire at Sea, directed by Gianfranco Rosi, which also serves as closing night film.

Blue Mountains: A Modern Day Classic is a 2015 Bollywood drama film, written and directed by Suman Ganguli, & produced by Raujesh Kumar Jain. The film stars Ranvir Shorey, Gracy Singh, Rajpal Yadav, Simran Sharma, Arif Zakaria, Mahesh Thakur, Yatharth Ratnum.

67th Berlin International Film Festival Film festival

The 67th annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from 9 to 18 February 2017 with Dutch filmmaker Paul Verhoeven as President of the Jury. Django, directed by Etienne Comar, opened the festival. The Golden Bear was awarded to the Hungarian film On Body and Soul directed by Ildikó Enyedi, which also served as closing film of the festival.

All Lights India International Film festival (ALIIFF), is an annual film festival of India conducted in Hyderabad. It is usually conducted in December every year. The 4th edition was held from Dec 1-4, 2018 at PVR Inorbit Mall, Hyderabad. Popular Malayalam film actor and national award-winning director Balachandra Menon was the festival director of the 2018 edition.

69th Berlin International Film Festival Film festival

The 69th annual Berlin International Film Festival took place from 7 to 17 February 2019. French actress Juliette Binoche served as the Jury President. Lone Scherfig's drama film The Kindness of Strangers opened the festival. The Golden Bear was won by Israeli-French drama Synonyms directed by Nadav Lapid, which also served as the closing film of the festival.
