Ned Raggett of AllMusic rated The Green Bicycle Case as 4 out of 5 stars and explained how the group "approached their first real album, per se, with well-deserved confidence and came up trumps... [it] showcases the band's virtue for getting things done without wasting time – 12 songs in just over half an hour, nearly all of them winners." [1]
Lycia is an American dark wave band formed in 1988 in Tempe, Arizona. The main personnel of the band are Mike VanPortfleet, Tara VanFlower and David Galas. Although only achieving minor cult success, the band is notable for being one of the ground breaking groups in darkwave and ethereal wave styles. Their 1995 album The Burning Circle and Then Dust received some attention for the power pop hit song "Pray" and "remains a high point of American dark rock", according to AllMusic. Lycia's music is characterized by rich soundscapes and layers of echoed guitars, dark and ethereal keyboards, doomy drum machine beats, VanPortfleet's melancholic, whispered vocals and Vanflower's vivid voice. Trent Reznor and Peter Steele are some of their more well-known fans.
The Cobra Killer duo of Gina V. D'Orio and Annika Trost began as part of Alec Empire's Digital hardcore movement. Both were part of other bands signed to Empire's Digital Hardcore Recordings label—D'Orio was in EC8OR, and Trost was in Shizuo.
Brendan O'Hare is a Scottish multi-instrumentalist musician, primarily known for being the drummer in the rock band Teenage Fanclub from 1989 until early 1994, and a member of and collaborator with Mogwai.
Gluey Porch Treatments is the debut album by American rock band Melvins, released in 1987 through Alchemy Records. The original release was vinyl only. The album was later released on cassette tape with the Six Songs EP through Boner Records and appears as bonus material on the CD version of Ozma. Tracks 18–29 can only be found on the 1999 Ipecac Recordings re-release; these songs are taken from a boombox demo.
The Lucksmiths were an Australian indie pop band formed in March 1993 by Marty Donald on guitar, Mark Monnone on bass guitar and Tali White on drums and lead vocals. Louis Richter joined on guitar in 2005. They released eight studio albums, First Tape, The Green Bicycle Case, What Bird Is That?, A Good Kind of Nervous (1997), Why That Doesn't Surprise Me, Naturaliste, Warmer Corners and First Frost (2008), before disbanding in August 2009.
"Storms in Africa" is a song by Irish singer-songwriter Enya from her second studio album, Watermark (1988). A rearranged version with English lyrics called "Storms in Africa (Part II)" was included in some later pressings of Watermark and released as a single in May 1989 that reached number 41 on the UK Singles Chart.
Daft is a compilation collecting the Art of Noise LP Who's Afraid of the Art Of Noise?, along with portions of the Into Battle with the Art of Noise EP and "Moments in Love" remix single. It gives a fairly thorough overview of the Trevor Horn period of the group, prior to its split from the ZTT label. Brainbloodvolume is the third and final album from English rock band Ned's Atomic Dustbin with their original line-up. It was released in the United States on 21 March 1995 but did not appear in the United Kingdom until July of that year.
The Best Mixes from the Album-Debut for All the People Who Don't Buy White-Labels is the first EP and remix compilation by Björk, originally released through Polydor Records in September 1994. The collection contains six remixes of four tracks from Björk's 1993 album Debut. All of the songs were written solely by Björk except "Human Behaviour", which was co-written by Nellee Hooper. Björk and Hooper were also co-producers of the EP. "Human Behaviour" was remixed by the English electronic group Underworld; the remaining five tracks are remixes by The Sabres of Paradise and Black Dog. The compilation has been re-issued through the record labels One Little Indian, PolyGram and PO Records.
Help Yourself, known to their fans as "The Helps", were an English rock band of the early 1970s. Originally formed as a backing band for Malcolm Morley, they evolved into a pub rock band with psychedelic-influences. "World Shut Your Mouth" is a song by English singer-songwriter Julian Cope, released as the first single from his third album, Saint Julian (1987), on 15 September 1986. The title of the song is the same as the title of Cope's first solo album, World Shut Your Mouth, but the track does not appear on that album.
"O" is the third studio album from the orchestral rock group The Flowers of Hell. It consists of one song lasting 46 minutes in its stereo mix and 42 minutes in its surround sound mix. The release's liner notes state that the piece is an exploration of band leader Greg Jarvis's synesthesia and was conceived as a piece of absolute music. It consists of rehearsed improvisations performed with-in a 12 part fixed song structure, recorded in one take at the end of a 9000 km tour. In a 2010 interview with Spinner, Jarvis said that "O" was also designed to explore music's unique capabilities as an art form that unfolds over time.
"Xnoybis" is a song by English industrial metal band Godflesh, taken from the album Selfless (1994). It was released in 1995 through Earache Records as a CD, and was also distributed as a promotional to radio stations.
"This Is Love" is a song by English musician Gary Numan, released in 1986 as the lead single from his eighth studio album Strange Charm. It was written by Numan, and produced by Numan and the Waveteam. "This Is Love" reached No. 28 in the UK and remained in the charts for three weeks.
Solid Pop is the debut album by the American synth-pop/electropop band Hyperbubble. It is titled on the cover as Sol!d Pop. The replacement of "i" with an exclamation mark is carried through the song titles.
