The Imaginarium Studios is a virtual production studio formed in 2012 by actor and director Andy Serkis. It is known for applying and developing performance capture and virtual production tools to create digital characters for film, television, games, AR, VR and mixed reality. [1] The company operates from Pinewood Studios and Trilith Studios. The studio is led by CEO Matt Brown, who has been with the company since 2016. [2]

Projects utilising the studio's services include films such as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 , [3] Men in Black: International , Spider-Man: Far From Home , Marvel's She-Hulk: Attorney at Law , [4] and Netflix's Dance Monsters . Alongside its work in film and TV, the studio provides services to the theatrical and music industries. In 2014 the team collaborated with War Horse director Tom Morris, [5] to have the play performers re-enact the production, wearing motion-capture suits, allowing their body and facial movements to be digitally applied to 3D avatars.

In 2015, The Imaginarium Studios worked with Coldplay to create the music video for their track "Adventure of a Lifetime", directed by Mat Whitecross. [6] In 2023, The Imaginarium Studios worked with Spotify to capture Stormzy performing tracks from his album, This Is What I Mean , the data was used to create a digital in-app concert experience with Rockstar Energy Drink. [7]

In May 2023, The Imaginarium Studios became a Cinesite partner company. [8] Cinesite provides services to the media and entertainment industries, including VFX and animation. In January 2024 the studio revealed its new brand identity. [9]

Trixter is a German visual effects studio, with divisions in Munich and Berlin. Founded in 1999 by Simone Kraus Townsend and Michael Coldewey, the company was acquired in August 2018 by Cinesite. As of August 2023, TRIXTER's senior management includes Christopher Hantel and Christina Caspers-Roemer.

Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a group of American superhero films and television series produced by Marvel Studios based on characters that appear in publications by Marvel Comics. Phase Five features all of the Marvel Studios productions set to be released starting from 2023 to mid-2025, with Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures distributing the films, while the series release on Disney+. Animation in the phase was produced by Marvel Studios Animation. The first film in the phase is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which was released in February 2023, while the first series in the phase, Secret Invasion, premiered in June 2023. The release schedule of Phase Five was changed several times due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Animal Farm is an upcoming British adult animated fantasy drama film directed by Andy Serkis, with a script written by Nicholas Stoller from a previous draft that was co-written by Rupert Wyatt and Serkis. Based on the novella of the same name by George Orwell, the adaptation is currently in production.
