The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP, formerly known as the Guitar Institute), is an independent music education provider located in London, United Kingdom. [1] The school currently has two sites, one in Kilburn and another in Queen's Park.
Founded in 1985, by session guitarist Alan Limbrick, the Institute was originally known as The Guitar Institute & BassTech, and was focused exclusively on training and developing guitarists and bassists. In 2021, the school was granted degree awarding powers by the Office for Students (OFS), affording the institution the authority to award certificates, diplomas and degrees up to and including Master’s level qualifications from September 2022 and the second phase of the new £2.5 million Queen's Park Campus is now open.
