John MacLean, better known by the stage name of The Juan MacLean, is an American electronic musician.
MacLean was guitarist for the post-hardcore band Six Finger Satellite, based in Providence, Rhode Island. The band was struck by several tragedies, and MacLean eventually moved into production duties, utilizing his home studio in Providence (nicknamed "The Parlor"). Eventually James Murphy joined the band as sound engineer (where he became known for a punishing tour PA set up, which he nicknamed "Death From Above").[ citation needed ]
Eventually the band broke up, and MacLean spent several years out of the music business, getting a degree at the Providence College and teaching English in New Hampshire. He continued a friendship with Murphy, who moved to New York City and founded influential dance-punk label DFA Records and started LCD Soundsystem. Murphy urged MacLean to get back into music, and got MacLean experimenting with modern electronic mixing equipment; DFA would include several MacLean compositions on compilation records.
His first album on the label, Less Than Human , was released in July 2005.
MacLean toured America in 2006 in support of The DFA Remixes Chapter 2.
On videos for "Give Me Every Little Thing" and "Tito's Way", MacLean was joined by the group's tour drummer, the late Jerry Fuchs. Other touring members include Eric Broucek and Nicholas Millhiser, and "Dance With Me" features vocalist Nancy Whang of LCD Soundsystem. The video for "Give Me Every Little Thing" was directed by Ben Dickenson of Waverly Films. The video for "Tito's Way" was directed by Adam Levite as Associates in Science. [1]
In March 2008 The Juan MacLean released the single "Happy House". [2] This was followed by a tour with Australian band Cut Copy and label-mates Shocking Pinks. [3] This was followed by another single called "One Day" and the album The Future Will Come on April 14, 2009. [4]
"Happy House" was re-released in the summer of 2009. It was promoted with a video directed by The Wilderness featuring singer Nancy Whang and a collection of back-up dancers including members of other DFA bands.
On November 8, 2009, the band's live drummer, Jerry Fuchs, who also drummed for Maserati and !!!, died after falling down an elevator shaft. [5]
In 2010, Juan released a DJ-Kicks Mix CD on !K7 Records. [6]
In 2011 Juan MacLean began collaborating with singer Amy Douglas under the name Peach Melba. This new collaboration was for music considered "too 'housey' for proper Juan MacLean releases". [7] The first single released was "Can't Let Go", which showed influences from classic Chicago house. [8] In March 2013, The Juan MacLean released a new single called "You're My Destiny". [9]
On 25 June 2014 on Pitchfork Media, The Juan MacLean announced a new album, In a Dream, and its release date, 16 September 2014. [10]
LCD Soundsystem is an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2002 by James Murphy, co-founder of DFA Records. The band comprises Murphy, Nancy Whang, Pat Mahoney (drums), Tyler Pope, Al Doyle, Matt Thornley, and Korey Richey. They have been signed to DFA since their inception, and also signed to Columbia Records in 2016.

"Losing My Edge" is the debut single by American rock band LCD Soundsystem. It was released as a 12-inch single in July 2002, through DFA Records. It was later featured on the CD version of their eponymous debut studio album. "Losing My Edge" peaked at number 115 on the UK Singles Chart. It was also listed at number 13 on Pitchfork's Top 500 Songs of the 2000s list. In October 2011, NME placed it at number 40 on its "150 Best Tracks of the Past 15 Years" list. James Jeremiah Murphy is an American musician, DJ, singer, songwriter, and record producer. His most well-known musical project is LCD Soundsystem, which first gained attention with its single "Losing My Edge" in 2002 before releasing its eponymous debut album in February 2005 to critical acclaim and top 20 success in the UK. LCD Soundsystem's second and third studio albums, Sound of Silver (2007) and This Is Happening (2010) respectively, were met with universal acclaim from several music review outlets. Both albums have also reached the top 50 in the Billboard 200.

DFA Holiday Mix 2005 is a compilation of tracks and remixes by various artists on the dance-punk label The DFA. It was released on October 31, 2005 in the UK and October 25, 2005 in the US. In the UK it was sold cheaply and was widely available across many record stores. However, in the US it was only made available in limited quantities from the DFA Records webstore.
DFA Compilation, Vol. 1 is a compilation of tracks by various artists signed to the dance-punk label The DFA. The only two tracks contributed here that were not produced by The DFA are "Endless Happiness" and "Cone Toaster", both by Black Dice. The compilation was released on September 30, 2003.

"45:33" is a six-part composition by American rock band LCD Soundsystem. Commissioned by Nike, it was released digitally as a one-track studio album on October 17, 2006, as part of the Nike+ Original Run series. Initially, it was available exclusively through the Nike Music Store on iTunes. New York–based creative lifestyle marketing and public relations agency Cornerstone helped the musical efforts and coordinated the track. A CD re-release with three bonus tracks was issued by DFA Records on November 12, 2007, with the "45:33" composition also receiving a vinyl release. An eight track remix CD entitled 45:33 Remixes was released September 2009.
Sound of Silver is the second studio album by American rock band LCD Soundsystem. The album was released jointly through DFA and Capitol Records in the United States and EMI elsewhere, first on March 12, 2007, in the United Kingdom. Sound of Silver was produced by the DFA and recorded during 2006 at Long View Farm in North Brookfield, Massachusetts and DFA Studios in New York, New York. Upon release, Sound of Silver received acclaim from music critics, and it was later nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards. The group's later released an EP, entitled A Bunch of Stuff, which was composed entirely of covers, alternative versions, and remixes of songs from this album.
The Future Will Come is the second album by American electronic artist The Juan MacLean. It was released by DFA Records on April 21, 2009. The album is heavily influenced by British synthpop band The Human League, and it incorporates many themes from science fiction. The Future Will Come received somewhat positive reviews from music critics and yielded three singles: "Happy House", "The Simple Life", and "One Day".
Gerhardt "Jerry" Fuchs was an American indie rock drummer. He was a member of the bands Turing Machine, The Juan MacLean, !!! and Maserati and performed drums live with the groups MSTRKRFT and LCD Soundsystem.
This Is Happening is the third studio album by American rock band LCD Soundsystem. It was released first on May 17, 2010, jointly through DFA and Virgin Records in the United States and Parlophone elsewhere. It was recorded over the course of 2009 and early 2010 in the Mansion recording studio in Los Angeles. The first single, "Drunk Girls", was released in April 2010, with a music video directed by Spike Jonze. The album is dedicated to Jerry Fuchs (1974–2009), who performed drums live with the band on occasion, as well as having a big part in associated DFA acts.
Gavilán Rayna Russom known professionally as Rayna Russom, is an American electronic music producer, musician and DJ. Russom has released music under various names, including Black Leotard Front, Black Meteoric Star and The Crystal Ark, as well as collaborative work with Delia Gonzalez and the band LCD Soundsystem. In addition to her musical work, Russom is also a visual artist and a writer. Russom lives in New York City.
The Long Goodbye: LCD Soundsystem Live at Madison Square Garden is a live album by American rock band LCD Soundsystem released in 2014. It is a near-unedited live recording of their final show held at Madison Square Garden in 2011. At the time, this was billed as the band's final show ever.

Electric Lady Sessions is a live in-studio album by American rock band LCD Soundsystem. It was released on February 8, 2019, through DFA and Columbia Records. It was recorded over a three-day span at Electric Lady Studios in Manhattan, New York, during their American Dream Tour. The session featured a twelve-song setlist that included covers of songs by Heaven 17, Chic, and the Human League.
