"The Metal" is a song by Tenacious D from their 2006 album The Pick of Destiny . The album was a soundtrack for the film. The song is played during the end credits of the film and is the final track on the album.

Live performances

Tenacious D plays "The Metal" regularly at concerts, in 2006–2007, on the Pick of Destiny tour, the song was accompanied by JR Reed (as "Lee") in a dancing armored costume. Whilst on tour, the costume appeared on Saturday Night Live and at the Spike Video Game Awards . Reed would reoccur his role at festivals and benefit concerts between 2008-10 until Mike Bray took over the role for the August 2013 European tour and at the 2013 edition of Festival Supreme. The costume was auctioned off to help fund victims of the November 2015 Paris attacks in December 2015. [1]

The song appeared in the video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock as a 6th tier song out of 8. It also appeared as a DLC for the video games, Rock Band and Rocksmith . The song was part of the song playlist in the game, Brütal Legend . It also appeared in Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits for the Nintendo DS.

Kyle Gass American musician

Kyle Richard Gass is an American musician and actor best known for being a member of Tenacious D and a winner of a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance, alongside longtime friend Jack Black. He also co-formed, and performs with, the bands Trainwreck and Kyle Gass Band / The Kyle Gass Company. Outside of music, Gass makes sporadic appearances as an actor; his appearances include the films Elf and Kung Fu Panda, TV shows such as Friends and Seinfeld and various music videos for bands such as Good Charlotte and I Prevail. He also hosted a YouTube channel from 2009 to 2012 called Guitarings alongside fellow Tenacious D guitarist John Konesky, and is currently hosting the 'Did We Do It' Podcast alongside Kevin Weisman.

He is best known for his roles as "Lee" with American rock band Tenacious D, mainly in their television series and in their film, The Pick of Destiny, as well as featuring at live concerts. He would also form the band Trainwreck in 2002 alongside Tenacious D guitarist Kyle Gass, performing as the lead singer. Trainwreck broke up in 2010, though reformed in 2018. Outside of these appearances, Reed mainly features in sporadic television, web-series and film appearances, as well as in commercial work.

The Pick of Destiny Tour was a worldwide concert tour by American rock band Tenacious D. The tour was in support of the band's 2006 film, Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny and its accompanying soundtrack The Pick of Destiny, released as the band's second studio album. The tour visited North America, Europe and Australia, beginning on November 11, 2006 and ending on February 21, 2007, featuring 32 shows in total. Footage from the shows at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle on February 16 and 17, 2007 were released on The Complete Master Works 2 DVD and Blu-ray in November 2008.

The discography of Tenacious D, an American comedy rock band, consists of four studio albums, one live album, one extended play (EP), six singles, two video albums, ten music videos and four other appearances. Formed in Los Angeles, California in 1994, the band is a duo composed of lead vocalist Jack Black and lead acoustic guitarist Kyle Gass, who perform with additional members during "full band" shows. After signing with Epic Records, the band released its self-titled debut album in 2001, which featured Dave Grohl on drums, Warren Fitzgerald on electric guitar and Steven McDonald on bass, among other contributors. The album reached number 33 on the US Billboard 200 and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Rize of the Fenix Tour

Rize of the Fenix Tour was a worldwide concert tour by American rock band Tenacious D. The tour was in support of the band's 2012 album Rize of the Fenix, with the tour visiting North America and Europe. The tour began on May 23, 2012 and ended on October 24, 2012, featuring 45 shows in total. The full show performed at Rock am Ring and highlights from the performance at Rock im Park were broadcast live on German TV. Highlights from the Download Festival performance were broadcast in the UK on the Sky Arts channel. These broadcasts have since been uploaded to the Internet unofficially by YouTube users. This was the band's second major concert tour, following The Pick of Destiny Tour, which toured from late 2006 to early 2007.
