This 2020 Nigerian movie tells the story of a Fulani milkmaid whom confronted religious extremists in the remote parts of Sub-Saharan Africa in a journey to locate her missing sister but her efforts to recapture her disrupted past seemed futile.

Reception

The milk made was listed as one of the top 20 Nigerian movies of 2020. The film won Best film in African language and was nominated for eight awards.

Accolades

At the 16th African Movie Academy Awards, the film was nominated for eight awards, ultimately winning Best Film, Best Film in an African Language, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Makeup, and Best Nigerian Film. [2] The Milkmaid also won the Narrative Feature Award at the 2021 Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles. [3]

For her role as "Zainab" in the film, she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

The 2020 Africa Movie Academy Awards ceremony was held on Sunday 20 December 2020 online at the AMAA website due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The award night was hosted by Lorenzo Menakaya. After the film entries were submitted, the date for the announcement of nominees was shifted from 20 November to 30 November. Knuckle City led with 10 nominations followed by Desrances with 10 nominations. The Milkmaid won the most awards including Best film in an African language, Best film and Best Nigerian film.

The 2019 Best of Nollywood Awards was the 11th edition of the ceremony and took place in the Coronation Hall of the Kano State Government in Kano State on 14 December 2019. Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje was the chief host of the event and the event was co-hosted by actress, Maryam Booth and Gbenga Adeyinka.
