The Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Director is an annual merit by the Africa Film Academy to recognise the best director of an African film for the year. [1]

The film received 9 nominations and won 5 awards at the 3rd Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2007, including Best Picture, Best Nigerian Film, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.

From a Whisper is a Kenyan drama film written and directed by African Movie Academy Award winner Wanuri Kahiu. The film received 12 nominations and won 5 awards at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2009, including Best Picture, Best Original Soundtrack, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and AMAA Achievement in Editing. The film also won the Best Feature Narrative award at the 2010 Pan African Film & Arts Festival, and was honored with the 2010 BAFTA/LA Festival Choice Prize. Although the film commemorates the 10th anniversary of the 7 August terrorist bombing in Kenya in 1998, it is not about the terrorist bombing. Jeta Amata Nigerian filmmaker (born 1974)

Jeta Amata is a Nigerian filmmaker, born on August 21, 1974 to popular Nigerian actor Zack Amata. He comes from a family of veteran filmmakers including Ifoghale Amata, Zack Amata and Fred Amata. Growing up in the film industry, following his family’s passion for film, Jeta produced and directed his first film at the age of 21, making it no surprise when he began to rise in the world of film and entertainment.

10th Africa Movie Academy Awards

The 10th Africa Movie Academy Awards ceremony honouring movies of 2013 was scheduled to take place in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on 26 April 2014, but was shifted to 24 May 2014. The nomination party was held at Emperor Palace, Johannesburg, South Africa on 2 April 2014.

Golden Icons Academy Awards (GIAMA) is an annual film award in the diaspora to reward outstanding contribution to the African film industry. The first edition was held in Houston, Texas, United States. The most recent ceremony was held in Stafford Center Performing Art Theater on October 19, 2013. The most recent ceremony was the 4th edition in the United States, no award ceremony was held in 2016.

<i>Of Good Report</i> 2013 film

Of Good Report is a 2013 South African romantic thriller film, directed by Jahmil X.T. Qubeka. The film had Mothusi Magano and Petronella Tshuma in lead roles. At the 10th Africa Movie Academy Awards, it had the most nominations and awards, and won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Film. The film was screened at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.
