The Nigerian Girl Guides Association is the national Guiding organization of Nigeria. It serves 113,726 members (as of 2006). Founded in 1919, the girls-only organization became a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1966. [1]
Girl are divided into various age groupings:
Adults 18 and over can serve as Leaders.
The Promise closely mirrors those from other countries, the ones listed below are for the Brownie and Guide levels, it is unknown if the other levels have their own promise.
I promise to do my best:
To do my duty to God and my country,
To help other people every day,
especially those at home.
'I promise on my honor that i will do my best, To do my duty to God and my country, To help other people at all times and to obey the Guide Law.
As with the Promise there are also differences in the Law.
Again, following the differences within levels, here are the motto's of the Brownies and Guides.
Brownies are the section in the Girl Guides organization for girls aged seven years old to ten years old. Exact age limits are slightly different in each organization.
Slovenský skauting, is the primary national Scouting and Guiding organization of Slovakia. Currently has around 7000 members. With 3,157 Scouts and about 3,000 Guides. Slovenský Skauting is the largest youth organization in Slovakia and a member of both the World Organization of the Scout Movement and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
Slovenian Catholic Girl Guides and Boy Scouts Association is the national Guiding organization of Slovenia.
The Scout Association of Nigeria (SAN) is the national Scouting organization of Nigeria. Scouting was founded in the Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria in 1915 and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1961. SAN has about 750,210 members as of 2015.
Scouts de Argentina is one of the national Scouting associations of Argentina. Scouting was officially founded in Argentina in 1912, shortly after the publication of "Scouting For Boys" in Spanish, which was granted a National Charter in 1917, and was among the charter members of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1922. Scouts de Argentina has 75,000 members as of 2020.
Girl Guides of Canada is the national Guiding association of Canada. Guiding in Canada started on September 7, 1910, and GGC was among the founding members of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) in 1928.
The Asociación de Guías y Scouts de Costa Rica is the national Scouting and Guiding association of Costa Rica. Scouting was founded in Costa Rica in 1915 and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1935. Guiding started in 1922 and became a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1946. The association has more than 14,500 members of both genders.
Pfadfinder und Pfadfinderinnen Liechtensteins is the national Scouting and Guiding association of Liechtenstein. Scouting in Liechtenstein started in 1931, and Guiding followed in 1932. The Boy Scouts became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1933, and the Guides joined the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1952. In 1989 both organizations merged and formed the present Pfadfinder und Pfadfinderinnen Liechtensteins. The PPL has about 1,100 members of both sexes and is organised in ten troops.
The Seychelles Scout Association (SSA) is the national Scouting organization of the Seychelles. Scouting in Seychelles was founded in 1927 and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) in 2002. The association has 372 members.
The Kuwait Girl Guides Association (KGGA) is the national Guiding organization of Kuwait. The association has 9,715 members. Founded in 1957, the girls-only organization became a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) in 1966.
GirlGuiding New Zealand is the national Guiding organisation in New Zealand. GirlGuiding New Zealand currently splits New Zealand into 8 regions around the country with approximately 10,000 members.
The Federação de Bandeirantes do Brasil is the national Guiding organization of Brazil. It serves 6,201 members as of 2003. Founded in 1919, the coeducational organization became a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1930.
The Girl Guides Association of Jamaica (GGAJ) is the Guiding organisation of Jamaica. It served 5,903 members. Founded in 1915, the girls-only organisation became an associate member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1963 and a full member in 1966.
The Asociación Guías Scout del Uruguay is the national Guiding organization of Uruguay. It serves 71 members. Founded in 1955, the coeducational organization became an associate member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) in 1966; the membership was revoked in 2014.
Girl Scouts Korea (걸스카우트) is the national Girl Scouting/Guiding organization of South Korea. It serves 78,365 members. Founded in 1946, the coeducational organization became a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1957.
Persatuan Pandu Puteri Malaysia is the national Guiding organization of Malaysia. It serves 73,915 members. Founded in 1916, the girls-only organization became a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1960.
Girl Guides Singapore is the national Guiding organisation of Singapore. It was first established in 1917 as The Singapore Girl Guides Association, before being renamed to its current iteration on 24 July 2004. The girls-only organisation became a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1966 and serves 12,340 members.
The Ghana Girl Guides Association (GGGA) is the National Guiding organization of Ghana. It serves 26,909 members. Founded in 1921 in Accra, the girls-only organization became a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1960. GGGA is supported by its parent association, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
Girl Scouts of Jamaica (G.S.J.) is a Christian faith based Scouting organization for girls in Jamaica founded on August 5, 2008. The girls-only organization is a member of the Order of World Scouts.
