The Nile Empire is a supplement published by West End Games in 1990 for the cross-genre role-playing game Torg. A second edition was published for the Torg Eternity RPG in 2020.
Earth has been invaded by High Lords, alien beings who have imposed different realities, called "cosms", on various parts of Earth. One of the aliens, styling itself Pharaoh Mobius, has imposed a reality of 1930s pulp fiction across Africa. In this reality, a new Nile Empire has arisen, armed with 1930s technology, magical astronomy and "weird science" powers and gizmos. The player characters are Storm Knights, who must enter the reality of the cosm to thwart the plans of the evil Pharaoh Mobius in the hopes of sending him back to his own alien plane.
This book details the cosm, the history of Pharaoh Mobius, how the empire is structured, the various cities, and several areas to be explored. The book also outlines new rules for this cosm, as well as new skills, powers, devices, magic, miracles, creatures and equipment. Each city and area has adventure hooks that the gamemaster can use. West End Games originally published the cross-genre role-playing game Torg in 1990, and quickly followed up the same year with The Nile Empire, a 126-page softcover paperback written by Ray Winninger with additional material by Greg Farshtey and Michael Stern, interior illustrations by Bob Dvorak, Link Mahone, Francis Mao, Allen Nunis, Dan Panosian, and Tim Wright, and cover art by Daniel Horne.
Thirty years later, in 2020, Ulisses Spiele published an 80-page hardcover revision for the Torg Eternity rules that included ten adventures written by Greg Gorden, Miranda Horner, Steve Kenson, Wendy Reischl, Bill Slavicsek, Ed Stark, John Terra, Tracy Sizemore, John Wick, Scott Alan Woodard, and Camdon Wright, with art by Ben Acevedo, Emma Beltran, Chris Bivins, and Donald Crank.
Stewart Wieck reviewed the product in the October–November 1990 issue of White Wolf. [2] He praised the product's quality and informative value, stating that, "If you play Torg, then this product is a must have." He rated it a 4 of 5 possible points. [2]
In the February 1991 edition of Dragon (Issue #166), Jim Bambra thought that "Fans of pulp adventure and the Indiana Jones movies will find this supplement very much to their tastes [...] Characters can wander the streets of Cairo or enter the surrounding deserts, seeking to thwart the schemes of Dr. Mobius and his unscrupulous henchmen." West End Games (WEG) was a company that made board, role-playing, and war games. It was founded by Daniel Scott Palter in 1974 in New York City, but later moved to Honesdale, Pennsylvania. Its product lines included Star Wars, Paranoia, Torg, DC Universe, and Junta.
Torg is a cinematic cross-genre tabletop role-playing game created by Greg Gorden and Bill Slavicsek, with art by Daniel Horne. It was first published by West End Games (WEG) in 1990. Game resolution uses a single twenty-sided die, drama cards and a logarithmic results table, which later formed the basis for WEG's 1992 sci-fi RPG Shatterzone and 1994 universal RPG Masterbook. WEG produced over fifty supplements, novels and comics for the first edition. A revised and expanded core rule book was produced in 2005, with a single adventure. After WEG closed in 2010, Torg was sold to Ulisses Spiele, who, after a successful crowdfunding campaign, published a new edition called Torg: Eternity in 2018.
Pharaoh is an adventure module for the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game. The module was published in 1982 by TSR, Inc. for the first edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons rules. It formed the first of the three-part Desert of Desolation module series. The module was written by Tracy and Laura Hickman; Tracy Hickman would later go on to help create the Dragonlance campaign setting.
Desert of Desolation is a compilation adventure module published by TSR for the Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) fantasy roleplaying game. It combines three previously published individual modules: Pharaoh, Oasis of the White Palm, and Lost Tomb of Martek. The modules were made for use with the first edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D) rules. Pharaoh was created by Tracy and Laura Hickman soon after the couple married in 1977, and published by TSR in 1982. Oasis of the White Palm was a collaboration between Tracy Hickman and Philip Meyers, and Hickman wrote the Lost Tomb of Martek on his own; both were printed in 1983.
Dungeoneer's Survival Guide is a supplement to the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game. The book was written by Douglas Niles, and published by TSR, Inc. in 1986.

The Complete Thief's Handbook is a supplemental rulebook published in 1989 for the 2nd edition of the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game. Accompanying manuals are The Complete Fighter's Handbook, Priest's Handbook, and Wizard's Handbook.

Jim Bambra is a British designer and reviewer of fantasy roleplaying games (RPG), and a former company director. He is particularly known for his contributions to Dungeons & Dragons, Fighting Fantasy, Warhammer, and Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game which was based on the Star Wars films. Later he became head of design at MicroProse, then managing director of Pivotal Games, a publisher of video games including Conflict: Desert Storm.
