The Nines is a luxury hotel in Portland, Oregon. It is a franchise of The Luxury Collection by Marriott International and is owned by Pebblebrook Hotel Trust. The hotel and dining amenities are managed by Sage Hospitality Resources.
Opened in 2008, the hotel occupies the top nine floors of the Meier & Frank Building, this paired with the building's opening date of 1909 gives the hotel its name. The 331-room hotel includes 32 suites, making it the sixth largest hotel in Portland based on the number of rooms after Hyatt Regency opened with 600 rooms in 2019. [1]
The hotel has two restaurants: Urban Farmer, a gourmet steakhouse is located on the 8th floor, which also serves as the lobby. Departure Restaurant and Lounge provides Pan-Asian cuisine and sits atop the building.
Pebblebrook acquired the hotel in July 2014 for $127 million, or $384,000 per key. [2]
Nashville's Union Station is a former railroad terminal designed by Richard Montfort, chief engineer of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad (L&N), and built between 1898 and 1900 to serve the passengers of the eight railroads that provided passenger service to Nashville, Tennessee, at the time, but principally the L&N. Built just west of the downtown area, it was spanned by a viaduct adjacent to the station and positioned to the east and above a natural railroad cut, through which most of the tracks in the area were routed. The station was also used by streetcars prior to their discontinuance in Nashville in 1941.
Meier & Frank was a prominent chain of department stores founded in Portland, Oregon, United States, and later bought by The May Department Stores Company. Meier & Frank operated in the Pacific Northwest from 1857 to 2006.
The Meier & Frank Building is a fifteen-story, glazed terra cotta building located in downtown Portland, Oregon, across from the northeast corner of Pioneer Courthouse Square. The building is the former flagship store and headquarters building for the Meier & Frank department store chain, which was taken over by Macy's in 2006. In 2006–2007, the building's lower five floors were remodeled as a Macy's, while the upper eleven floors were renovated in 2008 into a luxury hotel known as The Nines. Macy's closed in April 2017 and the lower levels were rebuilt as office space.
Hot Lake Hotel is a historic Colonial Revival hotel originally built in 1864 in Hot Lake, Union County, Oregon, United States. The hotel received its namesake from the thermal spring lakes on the property, and operated as a luxury resort and sanitorium during the turn of the century, advertising the medicinal attributes of the mineral water and drawing visitors worldwide. In September 2010, Pebblebrook Hotel Trust acquired the Monaco Washington DC hotel for $74.0 million.
The Hilton Portland Downtown and Duniway Hotel are a pair of Hilton-brand hotels located in downtown Portland, Oregon. The original 22-story, 240-foot (73 m) tower was completed in 1962 and was named the Hilton Portland. The second tower with 20 floors, located kitty-corner from the original building, to the northeast, was completed in 2002 and was originally named the Hilton Executive Tower, until its renaming as The Duniway Hotel in 2017. The 1962 building was the tallest building in the city for three years until surpassed by the Harrison West Condominium Tower in 1965.
The Cornelius Hotel is a historic hotel building in downtown Portland, Oregon, United States that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was designed by John V. Bennes's firm, and constructed in 1907–08. It ceased to be used as a hotel by the 1950s. A fire in 1985 left the top three floors of the structure uninhabitable. By the early 1990s, the building had been vacated, and it remained vacant for more than two decades. In 2016–2018, it was joined to the adjacent Woodlark Building, extensively renovated, and converted into a hotel. The Woodlark Hotel opened on December 15, 2018.
The ITC Grand Chola is a 5-star luxury hotel in Chennai, India. It is located in Guindy, opposite SPIC building and along the same row of buildings as Ashok Leyland Towers. The building, designed by Singapore-based SRSS Architects, is of mixed-use development with three separate wings and is themed after traditional Dravidian architecture of the Chola dynasty. The hotel is the ninth hotel in The Luxury Collection brand.
The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown, Washington, D.C., is a luxury hotel located in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It is near The Kennedy Center and the Georgetown waterfront. It is an AAA 5-star luxury hotel, and has 86 rooms, 27 premier suites, and five luxury suites. All rooms and suites have a view of the Potomac River and historic Georgetown. It contains a 140 feet (43 m) smokestack coming from the lobby fireplace. It is a small hotel and is known to be good for privacy. The hotel contains a restaurant, bar, and a fitness center with a newly refreshed spa after a $1.5 million renovation in 2016. The rooms are on average 450 square feet (42 m2) in size and is located in a historic industrial building.
The St. Gregory Hotel is a boutique hotel located in downtown Washington, D.C., in the United States. Established in 2000, the nine-floor hotel has 155 rooms, which includes 54 deluxe rooms, 85 suites with kitchens, and 16 top-floor suites with balconies. The Woodlark Building is a historic commercial building in downtown Portland, Oregon, United States that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The nine-story building was designed by Doyle, Patterson & Beach, and constructed in 1911–12. It has been described as "one of Portland's earliest commercial skyscrapers". From its completion until 1924, it was the headquarters of two jointly owned and very similarly named pharmaceutical companies based in Portland, the retail Woodard, Clarke & Company, and the wholesale Clarke-Woodward Company. It was converted into an office building in 1924. The retail space on the ground floor, mezzanine and basement has held a variety of businesses, in succession over the building's history, among the longest-lasting ones being a drugstore (1912–1927), a Sherman Clay piano and music store (1930–1974), and an independent shoe store (2000–2016).
