The Palmer Squares are a Chicago-based hip hop duo composed of Acumental (Ac) and Term (Term K). [1] The two generated a following on YouTube and have since released four studio albums.
Friends since childhood, they began writing music together in high school, calling themselves Ordinary Dogs, and later iLLiteracy. In 2010 they changed their name to The Palmer Squares, after the Chicago neighborhood they were living in at the time. They gained early notoriety on YouTube, participating in various cyphers and have gone on to release a number of studio albums, EPs, and mixtapes. The duo continues to tour North America and produces a weekly podcast titled TPS Reports Podcast.
The Palmer Squares were born Ronald Matt Brands and Seth Zamost and both grew up in Wheeling, IL, a northwest suburb of Chicago. Brands, an only child, was first exposed to hip hop at an early age and played percussion in school band programs. He attended Columbia College for Cinema & Television Arts. Zamost, the youngest of three, was raised in a very musical household, and his father Paul Zamost is a founding member of Chicago punk band The Effigies. Zamost attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago and has a BFA for illustration.
In 2011, they gained notoriety on YouTube by uploading long-form one-take rap videos and participating in various cyphers with artists such as Wax and Dumbfoundead. Their videos have garnered over 21 million views.
In 2012 The Palmer Squares recorded and released their first two EP's titled Spooky Language and Square Tactics. Spooky Language was produced by Nate Kiz and is heavily influenced by comedian George Carlin, containing numerous vocal samples and borrowing its name from one of his comedy routines. Square Tactics was produced by Canadian beat maker D.R.O.. In October 2013 the Palmer Squares made their official full-length album debut with Finna. [2] The project was released through the group's newly formed independent record label Stank Face Records and features appearances from Saba, Kembe X, and ProbCause.
Over the course of the next year they added fellow Chicago rappers Will is Chillin', Rebel Legato, Vantablac Sol, Loud Mouth, and producer Irineo to the Stank Face collective. In October 2014, Stank Face Records released the all-inclusive collaborative album Face Melt with each track featuring two or more members over production from Irineo, D.R.O. or Drew Mantia, who would go on to become the group's sole engineer and an integral part of Stank Face.
In May 2015, The Palmer Squares released the mixtape In Context, made up of songs that would not make the cut for their upcoming album. A year later in May 2016 they released their second studio album titled Planet of The Shapes, boasting features from Watsky and fellow Chicago emcee Psalm One. the album explored the bounds of The Palmer Squares' sound.
On June 12, 2017, The Palmer Squares released the EP, NaPalm with producer Nate Kiz, as a follow-up to Spooky Language.
After a tour across North America, titled "The No More Jobs Tour", The Palmer Squares announced a project of the same name, which they created with their tour mates, Vantablac Sol & Netherfriends, during the tours' downtime. It was Released on March 6, 2018.
In October 2018, The Palmer Squares & ProbCause collaborated on an album titled, Junkyard Samurai. The album was produced by Drew Mantia and released independently.
In 2019 The Palmer Squares dissolved Stank Face Records after legal disputes with previous management.
On July 29, 2019, The Palmer Squares and ProbCause, as Junkyard Samurai, released a 4-song project of remixed versions of previously released collaborations called REMASK. The project was produced by Drew Mantia.
On March 10, 2020, The Palmer Squares released their third studio album With or Without It.

Alan Daniel Maman, professionally known as the Alchemist, is an American hip hop producer and DJ. He began his music career in 1991 in the hip hop duo the Whooliganz under the moniker Mudfoot, along with now-actor Scott Caan. He has produced music since the 1990s.
Grand Hustle Records, also known as Hustle Gang Music, is an American hip hop record label, founded in 2003, by American rapper T.I. and his manager Jason Geter. The label was distributed by Atlantic Records until December 2012, and has since operated as an independent record label. Its roster has included acts such as 8Ball & MJG, B.o.B, Killer Mike, Young Dro, DJ Drama, Meek Mill, Chip, Travis Scott,The OMG Girlz and Trae tha Truth, the latter of whom also served as the label's vice president. The label also houses a roster of record producers, which has included Lil' C, Mars and Nard & B.
D'Juan Montrel Hart, better known by his stage name Young Dro, is an American rapper. After gaining recognition with his regional hit song "Yes Sir", from his 2002 independent album I Got That Dro, Young Dro aligned himself with fellow Atlanta-based rapper T.I. and signed to his label, Grand Hustle, in 2004. Young Dro's debut Best Thang Smokin', was released in August 2006, under Grand Hustle and Atlantic Records. The album was preceded by his debut single "Shoulder Lean", which served as the album's lead single and proved to be a hit in the urban community and Billboard charts. After amassing an abundance of mixtapes, Young Dro released his second album High Times, 7 years later on October 15, 2013, under Grand Hustle, Atlantic and E1. It spawned the single "FDB", his highest charting single since "Shoulder Lean".
K.I.Z is a German hip hop group from Berlin consisting of the rappers Tarek, Nico and Maxim. Until 2018, DJ Craft was also part of the group. Their lyrics often contain a lot of dark humor and irony as well as sociocritical content.
Bobby Ray Simmons Jr., known professionally as B.o.B, is an American rapper, singer, and record producer. Raised in Decatur, Georgia, Simmons signed with producer Jim Jonsin through his Rebel Rock Entertainment label in 2006. Two years later, he signed a joint venture recording contract with fellow Georgia rapper T.I.'s Grand Hustle Records, an imprint of Atlantic Records. Following his major-label deal, Simmons quickly achieved commercial success when his 2009 debut single, "Nothin' on You", peaked the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and received three nominations—Record of the Year, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration—at the 53rd Grammy Awards.
Michael Wayne Atha, better known by his stage name Yelawolf, is an American rapper. Born in Gadsden, Alabama, and raised in Antioch, Tennessee, he embarked on his recording career in 2005, releasing four mixtapes to positive local reception. His mixtape Trunk Muzik (2010) gained Yelawolf mainstream recognition, leading him to sign a recording contract with Interscope Records. He re-worked the mixtape as his first major label release, Trunk Muzik 0-60 (2010).
Dee-1 is an American rapper, author, college professor, activist, and public speaker from New Orleans, Louisiana. Dee-1 initially gained attention in 2010 after the release of his single "Jay, 50, and Weezy," which garnered over 1 million views on YouTube. Dee-1 signed to RCA Inspiration in 2013 and went fully independent in 2019. He has released 11 studio albums in his career thus far.
Dominique Marquis Cole, known professionally as Domo Genesis, is an American rapper, DJ, and songwriter. He is best known for being a member of Los Angeles hip hop collective Odd Future. He has since continued his solo career, releasing his debut album Genesis in 2016 and founding his own record label in 2018.

His debut album The Life and Times of Jonny Valiant was released on April 30, 2013, rising to number 8 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. His next two albums, Next to Nothing (2014) and Top of the Line (2016) peaked at number 3 on the same chart. His fourth album, Last Call (2017), hit number 43 on the Billboard 200. G.D.O.D. is a series of compilation mixtapes released by American hip hop and R&B record label Grand Hustle Records, under the namesake Hustle Gang. The first installment in the series was released on May 7, 2013.
High Times is the second studio album by American rapper Young Dro. The album was released on October 15, 2013, by Grand Hustle Records and eOne Music. The album features guest appearances from Forgeeauto, Mac Boney, T.I., Spodee, Problem, Natasha Mosley, Blu June, Doe B and Miloh Smith. The album was met with generally positive reviews from music critics, and debuted at number 57 on the US Billboard 200 chart.
Victor Kwesi Mensah, known professionally as Vic Mensa, is an American rapper. Born and raised in Chicago, he was a member of the regional hip hop groups Kids These Days and Savemoney prior to releasing his debut solo mixtape, Innanetape (2013). As a solo artist, Mensa has been signed to Virgin EMI Records, Def Jam Recordings, Capitol Records, and Roc Nation.
Jon Kevin Freeman Jr., better known by his stage name Jon Connor, is an American rapper and record producer. Connor has released various mixtapes and an album effort during his career including the Jay-Z inspired The Blue Album, and the Eminem inspired The People's Rapper LP. His debut studio album, Unconscious State was released in 2013. Shortly thereafter, he was signed to Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment from 2013 to 2019, where he did not release an album. In 2015, he garnered notoriety for being featured on Dr. Dre's album Compton (2015) as well as The Game's album The Documentary 2.5 (2015).
Da' Nic is the third extended play (EP) by American rapper TIP, released via digital distribution on September 11, 2015, by King Inc. The EP, which serves as a precursor to TIP's tenth studio album Dime Trap, features guest appearances from Young Dro and Young Thug. The EP's production was handled by Jazzfeezy, League of Starz, London on da Track, Mars, Scena, Shonuff & TNB Beatz.
David Lawrence Brewster Jr., known professionally as Dave East, is an American rapper. East began his career in 2010, and gained attention in 2014 for his eighth mixtape, Black Rose. Its release caught the attention of fellow New York rapper Nas, who signed East to a recording contract with his label Mass Appeal Records in 2014, which entered a joint venture with Def Jam Recordings two years later.
Tahj Malik Chandler, better known by his stage name Saba, is an American rapper and record producer. He grew up in the Austin neighborhood of the West Side of Chicago. He is a co-founder of the musical collective Pivot Gang with his brother Jerrel Chandler, their late cousin Walter Long Jr, their high school friend Logan Yutters, Jevunte Wheeler (squeakPivot), and Jimmy. He is also one third of the supergroup Ghetto Sage, with Smino and Noname.
Navraj Singh Goraya, known professionally as Nav, is a Canadian rapper and record producer. Nav originally began his career as a producer, co-producing fellow Canadian rapper Drake's single, "Back to Back", in 2015. He then gained mainstream attention in 2016 when his song "Myself" went viral on SoundCloud. Nav is signed to Canadian singer the Weeknd's record label XO and its parent label, Republic Records, and is managed by XO managers Amir "Cash" Esmailian and Wassim "Sal" Slaiby.
Destin Choice Route, better known by his stage name JID, is an American rapper and singer. Born and raised in Atlanta, he signed with J. Cole's Dreamville Records, an imprint of Interscope Records in 2017. He formed the musical collective Spillage Village with EarthGang in 2010, and later formed the hip hop group, Zoink Gang with Smino, Buddy, and Guapdad 4000. His fluent rapping style and usage of wordplay has been highly acclaimed by several music critics.
Hustle Gang Presents We Want Smoke, commonly referred to as We Want Smoke, is a compilation album by recording artists of American record label Grand Hustle Records, released under the namesake Hustle Gang. The compilation was issued on October 13, 2017, by the label, under exclusive license to Roc Nation. American rapper T.I., head of the label, first revealed plans for a label collaborative album in 2013. The compilation produced three singles—"Game 7", "Do No Wrong" and "Friends".
Haviah Mighty is a Canadian rapper from Brampton, Ontario. She rose to prominence in 2016 as a member of the hip hop group the Sorority, before releasing several EPs on her own, most notably Flower City, in 2017. Her first album, 13th Floor, was released in 2019 and won the Polaris Music Prize. After her debut, XXL named her one of the "15 Toronto rappers you should know" and CBC Music called her one of the "New Faces of Canadian Hip Hop".
