The Parlor Mob is an American rock band from New Jersey.
The original members of the band formed in 2004, as What About Frank?. [1] They independently released an album in 2005, entitled "What about Frank?". The band won the title Best Live Band at the Asbury Park Music Awards twice, and performed at the 2005 Van's Warped Tour, the Bamboozle festival and the CMJ Music Marathon. [2] This attracted the attention of Capitol Records. In 2006, they changed their name to The Parlor Mob, named after a notorious Hell's Kitchen gang active at the turn of the 20th century. [3] A 2006 editorial in The New York Times notes "when you're not even halfway through your 20s, jump-starting a back-to-basics rock revolution seems a tall order," adding "judging by the rock 'n' roll charisma radiated by the band members at their live shows–long hair tossing, instrument abusing, generally reckless affairs[;] they are up to the task." [4] They recorded a four-song EP for Capitol, but the band was dropped in the wake of a corporate merger between Capitol and Virgin Records. [5] They chose to give away the EP for free, eventually attracting the attention of Roadrunner Records, with whom the band signed a record deal in 2007.
Producer Jacquire King, who had previously contacted the band while they were recording for Capitol, contacted Roadrunner to express his interest in producing the band's new record. King describes The Parlor Mob as "very much a live rock 'n' roll band," adding "in my eyes they are an important band, and I do feel they can be the same for the public... I think they are an important link to what is the essence of rock 'n' roll and what is to become a modern expression of it." [5] On 28 September 2007, the band began recording at Echo Mountain Recording Studio. [6] And You Were a Crow was completed on Halloween of 2007, and released digitally on 11 April 2008, and on compact disc on 6 May 2008. The band was featured on the iTunes Store's section of best new rock artists in 2008. The lead single "Can't Keep No Good Boy Down" was featured in the sixth season of the television show, Entourage. [7] As additional promotion for the record, the Parlor Mob was featured in a performance setting on Knight Rider, in October 2008. [8] The song "Hard Times" reached No. 35 on the Billboard rock charts. [9] It was featured in the video games NASCAR 09 and WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010, and the television shows Friday Night Lights and Trauma. [10] [11] [12]
Aaron Miller of CityNews described their 2009 performances at Bovine Sex Club as "face-melting, Fender-shredding rock out that went a long way in clearing up why some have dubbed this a 'must-see' live band[;] nobody who watches them perform live will fail to be entertained. [13] The Aquarian Weekly also expressed "basically now is the time to go see them and say later on, "Yeah, you know, I saw them back before they took over the world," because that's the way things are heading." [14]
On 15 August 2010, the band released a statement on their website regarding working on their new album, announcing "we got home from Europe last fall knowing that we had effectively finished [the] touring behind And You Were A Crow and feeling ready to start work on the next album. After a little bit of downtime, we pretty much holed ourselves away from everything and began writing with the individual ideas we had from the road, putting things together and seeing where it would take us." During the Winter of 2009, Nick Villapiano parted with The Parlor Mob and began playing with Atlantic, Atlantic, and their friend bassist Anthony Chick joined the band. They announced Matt Radosevich, who engineered the first record, was producing the album. They ended their statement with "we're currently more powerful than we've ever been, and feel more strongly about these songs than we ever have about anything in our career. We cannot wait to bring you this record." [15]
On 22 August 2011, The Parlor Mob released the single "Into the Sun." The full album entitled Dogs was released on 11 October 2011. The band explains the name of the album was chosen because "it is a personification of everything we all have become and a wide reaching, never-ending analogy for what we currently feel; a unified stamp of our lives in this moment." They continue "we have been beaten to the ground, spit on and kicked, and we have bitten back and clawed at those who are against us. We have felt caged. We have been hungry and fought for scraps. We have been pet and praised in one instant, and neglected and abused in the next. We have formed a pack, and we are fiercely loyal to one another." [16] A special edition was also released featuring 3 bonus tracks.
Dogs was named iTunes' "Rock Album of the Year." [17] Brice Ezell of PopMatters calls the album "high-octane, distortion-fueled rock 'n' roll from start to finish." [18] Dogs reached No. 5 on Top Heatseekers, and the single "Into The Sun" made Billboard Rock Chart's Top 40, and was also used by the professional ice hockey team the Pittsburgh Penguins, for a nationwide playoff ad campaign. [9] Songs from Dogs appear in the video games Sleeping Dogs and MLB 12: The Show, and the television shows Person of Interest and Prime Suspect. In December 2012, The Parlor Mob began what would be a year and a half hiatus. [19]
On 9 June 2014, The Parlor Mob announced via Facebook they would be releasing the EP Cry Wolf later that fall, along with the immediate release of the first single titled "The Day You Were Born." The EP came out 17 February 2015, featuring tracks "The Day You Were Born," "Dead Man," "Doe Eyed Dear," "Racing with a Beating Heart" and the titular "Cry Wolf." Despite containing five songs, the album clocks in just shy of 30 minutes. The album was later released on vinyl by In the Clouds Records. [20]
On 22 June 2018, Pitchfork announced that The Parlor Mob signed with Britannia Row Recordings, run by Malay. [21] They released the song "Fourth of July," which Alternative Addiction describes as "anthemic." [22]
On 18 June 2019, the band formally announced their 5th album titled Dark Hour via Rolling Stone . Alongside this announcement, they released the first single titled Someday. On August 16, 2019, the band released Dark Hour, their fifth album. [23] The band went on a multi-city headlining tour that began on September 28, 2019. [24]

Disturbed is an American heavy metal band from Chicago, formed in 1994. The band includes guitarist Dan Donegan, drummer Mike Wengren, lead vocalist David Draiman and bassist John Moyer. Donegan and Wengren have been involved in the band since its inception, with Draiman replacing original lead vocalist Erich Awalt in 1996 and Moyer replacing original bassist Steve "Fuzz" Kmak in 2004.
Killswitch Engage is an American metalcore band from Westfield, Massachusetts, formed in 1999 after the disbanding of Overcast and Aftershock. Killswitch Engage's current lineup consists of vocalist Jesse Leach, guitarists Joel Stroetzel and Adam Dutkiewicz, bassist Mike D'Antonio, and drummer Justin Foley. The band has released eight studio albums and three live performance albums. Their eighth studio album, Atonement, was released on August 16, 2019.
Roadrunner Records is an American record label focused on heavy metal and hard rock bands. Founded in the Netherlands in 1980, it is now a division of Warner Music Group and is based in New York City.
Oleander is a post-grunge band from Sacramento, California, US. Its name is derived from the poisonous flowering shrub oleander, which line the highways of Northern California. In their nine years of activity, the band released four studio albums under various record labels. Their most successful effort, 1999's February Son, includes the hit single "Why I'm Here." Oleander went on official hiatus after the release and promotion of their third album, Joyride, in 2004. The band took some time off, but reunited in 2008, and began work on their album Something Beautiful, which was released on April 16, 2013.
Alter Bridge is an American rock band from Orlando, Florida. The band was formed in 2004 by vocalist and rhythm guitarist Myles Kennedy, lead guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips. After their former band Creed became inactive in 2003, Tremonti and Phillips formed a new band with former bandmate Marshall and new member Kennedy; Alter Bridge was formally unveiled in January 2004, months before Creed's official breakup in June.
Theory of a Deadman is a Canadian rock band from North Delta, British Columbia. Formed in 1999, the band is currently signed to Roadrunner Records as well as 604 Records. The band includes traits of music styles, such as country and acoustic, in addition to their post-grunge and alternative rock foundation. Nine of their singles have entered the top ten of the US Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, including four songs that peaked at number one: "Bad Girlfriend", "Lowlife", "Rx (Medicate)" and "History of Violence".
Crimson Glory is an American heavy metal band that was formed in 1983 in Sarasota, Florida, USA. It started in 1979 under the name Pierced Arrow, then Beowulf, before settling on Crimson Glory. The classic line-up consisted of the vocalist Midnight, guitarists Jon Drenning and Ben Jackson, bass guitarist Jeff Lords and drummer Dana Burnell. With that line-up, the band rose to international fame in the mid-1980s and was considered one of the pioneers of the American progressive metal movement, along with Queensrÿche, Dream Theater, Fates Warning and Watchtower. During its career, the band released four studio albums and one EP.
Escape the Fate is an American rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2004. Originally from Pahrump, Nevada, the group currently consists of lead vocalist Craig Mabbitt, guitarists Matti Hoffman and TJ Bell, bassist Erik Jensen and drummer Robert Ortiz. Ortiz is the only founding member remaining in the band.

Honor By August is an American rock band originally from Washington, D.C. They come from the same scene around Georgetown University that spawned Vertical Horizon, although many years later.
Airbourne are an Australian hard rock band formed in Warrnambool, Victoria, in late 2001. Founding members are Joel O'Keeffe on lead vocals and lead guitar, his younger brother Ryan O'Keeffe on drums and David Roads on rhythm guitar and backing vocals. They were joined by Justin Street on bass guitar and backing vocals in mid-2004. Roads amicably left in 2017, Mathew Harrison joined in 2018 and was replaced by Jarrad Morrice on rhythm guitar and backing vocals in mid-2022, who was replaced in turn by Brett Tyrrell in mid-2023.
Rev Theory is an American rock band formed in 2002 in North Andover, Massachusetts. The band has released four studio albums: Truth Is Currency (2005), Light It Up (2008), Justice (2011) and The Revelation (2016), as well as three EPs: Revelation Theory EP (2004), Acoustic Live from the Gibson Lounge (2009) and Take 'Em Out (2012). The song "Hell Yeah" was the opening theme song for the popular Spike show Blue Mountain State and the song "We Own The Night" was the main theme song for the WWE Network reality series Breaking Ground. The song "Voices" is currently being used by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) wrestler Randy Orton.
And You Were a Crow is American rock band The Parlor Mob's debut studio album. It was recorded for over two months at Echo Mountain Recording in Asheville, North Carolina and was released digitally by Roadrunner Records on March 11, 2008. The physical CD was released in the US on May 6, 2008. The track "Can't Keep No Good Boy Down" was used as the theme song for The Paul Finebaum Show on SEC Network in 2016 and during the end credits of the season 6 Entourage episode "One Car, Two Car, Red Car, Blue Car." The track "Hard Times" is featured in the video game WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 and is also featured in Nascar 09.
Jeff Rouse is an American musician who is best known as the bassist for the rock bands Alien Crime Syndicate and Duff McKagan's Loaded. In September 2014, it was announced Rouse was the newest member of Fozzy. Previously, Rouse was a member of a number of Seattle-based groups such as Vendetta Red and Sirens Sister while he also has his own solo project titled To the Glorious Lonely and The Gemini Affair.
Hail the Villain was a Canadian hard rock band from Oshawa, Ontario. The band had moderate success, and after the departure of lead vocalist Bryan Crouch, eventually went on an indefinite hiatus.
Those Mockingbirds were an American alternative rock band from New Jersey.
Lions were an American rock band from Austin, Texas, formed in 2005. The lineup consists of singer Matt Drenik, guitarist Austin Kalman and drummer Jake Perlman. Trevor Sutcliffe was Lions' bassist from their formation until his departure in 2009, where he was replaced by Mike Sellman. The band formed following the breakup of The Good Looks, the previous band of both Drenik and Perlman.
Marmozets are an English rock band from Bingley, West Yorkshire. Formed in 2007, the band consists of Rebecca "Becca" Macintyre (vocals), Jack Bottomley (guitar), Sam Macintyre (guitar/vocals), Will Bottomley (bass/vocals), and Josh Macintyre (drums). Marmozets signed to Roadrunner Records in October 2013 and released their debut album on 29 September 2014. Their second album, Knowing What You Know Now, came out on 26 January 2018.
