The Ripps are an English rock band formed in Coventry in 2003. [1] The band currently consists of Patch Lagunas (vocals/rhythm guitar), Raul Lagunas (lead guitar/backing vocals), Alan Ferguson (bass), Phil Cox (drums) Terry Muttitt (keys/synth) and Lolly Macintosh. Until 2009, the band were a three piece featuring drummer Rachel Butt.
The Ripps were formed by brothers Patch and Raul Lagunas, whose parents were political activists that escaped political persecution from General Pinochet in Chile. [2] Their debut single "Vandals" was released in 2006, followed by their debut album Long Live the Ripps. [3] "Vandals" was praised by Lianne Steinberg of Drowned in Sound . [4] Tom Inkelaar of Zap! Bang! gave Long Live the Ripps a mixed to positive review, calling it "derivative but more importantly energetic, fun and throwaway in the best way." [5]
Andy R. of Punktastic called the album "quintessentially British-sounding, with a real nostalgic taste for the early-Eighties punk flavours of The Buzzcocks." [6] Spin also compared them to the Buzzcocks, saying the Ripps were "so English they made Arctic Monkeys sound like Dwight Yoakam." [7]
In 2007, the band released the single "Holiday". [8] Their 2007 single "Loco" had a mixed reception, earning praise from Dan Martin of NME, [9] and Phil Udell of Hot Press . [10] Ben Yates of Drowned In Sound was more critical of the song, calling it "embarrassing". [11] Cam Lindsay of Exclaim! said that the band's "bubblegum scuzz is adorable and undeniably yummy, like a wad of fresh Hubba Bubba." [12]
In 2009, Alan Ferguson, Phil Cox, Terry Muttitt and Lolly McIntosh to complete a new line-up. The band were invited to support The Specials on their UK tour and to play for the British Embassy in Kuwait in October 2009. [13] Throughout the summer of 2010, they achieved significant airplay on BBC Coventry and Warwickshire and were featured on television for the BBC and Channel 5. In 2011, they had recorded new material, ready for release by the middle of the year. While in the same year, they wrote and performed the soundtrack for the play Too Much Pressure at the Belgrade Theatre, writing the music. [14] [15]
Buzzcocks are an English punk rock band formed in Bolton, England in 1976 by singer-songwriter-guitarist Pete Shelley and singer-songwriter Howard Devoto. They combined elements of punk rock, power pop, and pop punk through their career. They achieved commercial success with singles that fused pop craftsmanship with rapid-fire punk energy. These singles were later collected on Singles Going Steady, an acclaimed compilation album described by music journalist and critic, Ned Raggett, as a "punk masterpiece".

Never Mind the Buzzcocks is a British comedy panel game show with a pop music theme. It has aired on Sky Max since September 2021, having originally aired between November 1996 and January 2015 on BBC Two. The original series was first hosted by Mark Lamarr, then by Simon Amstell, and later by a number of guest presenters, with Rhod Gilbert hosting the final series. It first starred Phill Jupitus and Sean Hughes as team captains, with Hughes being replaced by Bill Bailey from the eleventh series, and Bailey replaced by Noel Fielding for some of series 21 and from series 23 onward. The show returned six years later, now hosted by Greg Davies, with Daisy May Cooper as the new captain and Fielding returning as a captain. The show is produced by Talkback. The title plays on the names of the Sex Pistols album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols and the band Buzzcocks.

The band was nominated for Punk/Hardcore Artist/Group of the Year at the 2011 Canadian Music Week Indie Awards.
Junk of the Heart is the third studio album from British indie band The Kooks. It was released in Europe on 9 September 2011, and in the United Kingdom on 12 September 2011 by Virgin Records. The first single, "Is It Me", was released on 4 September 2011 and the second single, "Junk of the Heart (Happy)" was released on 6 November 2011. This was the last album to feature original drummer Paul Garred.
