The Slugs were an American rock band from Chicago, Illinois, United States. Starting in 1983, the band played power pop influenced by bands such as The Who, NRBQ, XTC and The Smithereens. [1]
The Slugs was started by brothers guitarist Dag and bassist Gregg Juhlin [1] and their friend guitarist Al Paulson in Park Ridge, Illinois.[ citation needed ] In the early 1980s, the trio put out an ad for a drummer that was answered by Chicago native Mike Halston,[ citation needed ] and the band officially formed on March 5, 1983. [1] Al Paulson eventually left the group, and English vocalist Tristan Gallagher joined but left in 1985.[ citation needed ] In the 1990s, Johnny L (born John Lukashevich[ citation needed ]) joined the band as guitarist. [2]
The group put out their first single, "Walking in Circles/Give Me a Sunday", in 1986 on Susstones Records, and then a second single, "Back to the Playground/Now They Can All Lie Down", was issued on Pravda Records in 1987. [1]
In 1988, while still a trio, the Slugs put out their first album, Non-Stop Holiday, on Pravda Records. [1] [3] The record sleeve displayed a photograph of an adolescent Mike Halston. [3]
The band subsequently released two more albums: Fort Fun (1992, Pravda Records) and Junior (2000, Famous Mistakes Records).[ citation needed ]
The band announced that they would reunite on January 22, 2010 for one show at the Abbey Pub in Chicago to celebrate Pravda Records' 25th anniversary, along with Pravda bands the Service and Boom Hank. [4] [5]
On June 25, 2022, the band reunited to play PravdaFest, a celebration of the 38th anniversary of the founding of Pravda Records. [6]
The Offspring is an American rock band from Garden Grove, California, formed in 1984. Originally formed under the name Manic Subsidal, the band's current lineup consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Bryan "Dexter" Holland, lead guitarist Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman and bassist Todd Morse. Over the course of their 39-year career, the Offspring have released 10 studio albums and have also experienced a number of lineup changes, most notably with their drummer. Their longest-serving drummer was Ron Welty, who replaced original drummer James Lilja in 1987 and stayed with the Offspring for 16 years. Welty was replaced by Atom Willard in 2003, who was replaced four years later by Pete Parada, who remained as the drummer for the Offspring until 2021. Gregory "Greg K." Kriesel (one of the Offspring's cofounders) was their bassist until 2018, when he was fired from the band due to business disputes, thus leaving Holland as the sole remaining original member. Kriesel was replaced by Todd Morse of H2O, who had been the Offspring's touring guitarist since 2009.

Smash is the third studio album by American rock band the Offspring, released on April 5, 1994, by Epitaph Records. After touring in support of their previous album Ignition (1992), the band recorded their next album over two months at Track Record in North Hollywood, California. Smash was the band's final studio album to be produced by Thom Wilson, who had worked with them since their 1989 eponymous debut. This also marks the first album where Dexter Holland is credited with playing the guitar as opposed to vocals only.

He is a former member of the rock band Kiss from 1982 until mid-1984 during the band's transition out of their 1973–1983 makeup period. Vincent was the last member to wear a unique makeup/costume configuration, as the character of The Ankh Warrior, until he and the band were first shown without the makeup during an interview on MTV in September 1983. He founded his own band, Vinnie Vincent Invasion, which had minor hits.
Fastbacks were a Seattle, Washington, punk rock band. Formed in 1979 by songwriter/guitarist Kurt Bloch, and friends Lulu Gargiulo and Kim Warnick, they disbanded in 2001. Their sound mixed a generally punk rock approach to vocals and sound textures with poppy tunes and strong musicianship.

The Didjits were an American punk rock band formed in Mattoon, Illinois in 1983, composed of Rick Sims on guitar/vocals, Doug Evans on bass, and Rick's brother Brad Sims, on drums. Didjits were known for the aggressive guitar playing and persona of Rick Sims, who often baited the audience between songs, and took plenty of abuse for it. Moreover, the band also added odd stunts and theatrical bits to some of their stage shows, particularly when playing in Chicago and Champaign.
