Giovanni Santolla (May 26, 1989), known professionally as The Spoiled, is an Italian musician and record producer from Sammichele di Bari. He is the lead vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and sole official member of The Spoiled, which he founded in 2015. Its music combines post-punk, dark wave, EBM, and industrial.

History

Initially started as a studio project, The Spoiled released its debut EP Ironshell on January 13, 2016 ^{[1] [2]} and a video for the single Wish House. ^[3] Their full length Parasite ^[4] came out on June 22, 2016 via Manic Depression Records. ^[5]

After going on hiatus for 8 years, The Spoiled came back in late spring 2024 with the self-released singles Love Is Pain, I Don't Wanna Be Me (a Type O Negative cover), Time, Hole In A Chest and the two-songs EP Dancing On My Grave.

On late 2024, Manic Depression Records released the compilation EP Time, including all the singles released by The Spoiled in 2024 and the videoclip of the track Hole In A Chest. ^[6] The band took part in the compilation “Goths For Palestine”, ^[7] along with TRAITRS, Belgrado, Vision Video, Suzi Sabotage, Deceits, Aux Animaux, and many others, and shared the stage with international acts as Traitrs, Ductape, Darkways, and Dish-Is-Nein.

In April 2025, the band signed with Swiss Dark Nights Records and released its sophomore album Living Ghosts, ^[8] anticipated by the single Ravenous.

Inspiration

The Spoiled have stated that The Soft Moon and Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails have been their main source of inspiration. Other influences include Drab Majesty, Perturbator, Xiu Xiu, Akira Yamaoka, David Lynch, Gary Numan, HEALTH, Crystal Castles and Boy Harsher.
