The Trail of the Jedi is the second novel by Jude Watson in the Star Wars Jedi Quest book series. [1]
Anakin Skywalker knows that Obi-Wan Kenobi did not choose him as an apprentice. Instead, it was the dying wish of Obi-Wan's own Master, Qui-Gon Jinn, that brought them together. Now Anakin is beginning to doubt his Master's commitment ... and Obi-Wan is starting to wonder if he will ever be as good a Master as Qui-Gon.
With these things in mind, Master and apprentice head out on a training exercise that soon turns into a struggle to survive. A squad of bounty hunters has been hired to capture the Jedi—and they will stop at nothing to do it. Anakin and Obi-Wan must avoid the traps and ambushes ... and try to discover who is behind the deadly Jedi hunt.
Obi-Wan Kenobi, also known as Ben Kenobi, is a character in the Star Wars franchise. Within the original trilogy, Obi-Wan serves as a supporting character and is portrayed by English actor Alec Guinness. In the later-released prequel trilogy, a younger version of the character serves as one of the main protagonists alongside Anakin Skywalker and is portrayed by Scottish actor Ewan McGregor. In the original trilogy, he is a mentor to Luke Skywalker, to whom he introduces the ways of the Jedi, until he becomes one with the Force after sacrificing himself to Darth Vader in their fight and later guides him alongside Yoda in the fight against the Empire with the Rebel Alliance while also being instrumental in Luke's completion of his Jedi training. In the prequel trilogy, set decades earlier, he is initially a Padawan (apprentice) to a Jedi Master named Qui-Gon Jinn and later the mentor and friend to Luke’s father Anakin, who falls to the dark side of the Force and becomes Vader. He is frequently featured as a main character in various other Star Wars media.

Along the way he encounters a young Anakin Skywalker, whom he believes to be the prophesied "Chosen One" who will bring balance to the Force and concludes he must be trained as a Jedi, much to the disapproval of the Council, who feel he possesses too much fear and is past the age to be trained. Jinn later partakes in the Battle of Naboo, but is eventually killed in a duel by Sith Lord Darth Maul who is in turn seemingly killed by Jinn's apprentice. In his final moments, Jinn makes Kenobi promise to train the young Skywalker, setting him onto his path of becoming a Jedi Knight.
