Shawn Lane was an American musician who released two studio albums and collaborated with a variety of musicians including Ringo Starr, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Reggie Young, Joe Walsh, Jonas Hellborg, Anders Johansson, Jens Johansson and many others. After studying the piano, he learned to play the guitar, which he played with exceptional speed.

Centrifugal Funk is the second and final studio album by the Mark Varney Project (MVP), released in 1991 through Legato Records; a remastered edition was reissued in 2004 through Tone Center Records. This line-up of the group features guitarists Frank Gambale, Brett Garsed and Shawn Lane. The album consists primarily of covers of existing jazz fusion compositions, save for one track performed by Lane—"Lane's Blitz"—which he later dismissed as an impromptu warm-up rather than a planned solo, and thus his dislike for it. Varney has disputed Lane's version of events, but the track was omitted on the remaster.

According to Hoop, many of the songs on the album were "quite old." "Out the Back Door," a combination of early 20s jazz and hip hop, is a song she "wrote years ago, and then the movie Idlewild came out and it kind of reinforced my concept in that arena," explained Hoop.

He has worked with Shawn Lane, Garaj Mahal, Dapp Theory, Steve Coleman, Maxwell, Meshell Ndegeocello, Blacksheep, Phil Upchurch, David Fiucynski & Screaming Headless Torsos, Kai Eckhardt, Anthony Tidd's Quite Sane, K'Alyn, Angela Bofill and George Duke. Rickman was lead singer and drummer for Garaj Mahal from 2007–2011 and his rock band Big Mouth featuring guitarist Leonard Stevens. He was also featured alongside Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Marcus Miller on the Tribute to Miles 2011 tour.
Send Me Your Love is the second studio album by American singer Kashif. It was released by Arista Records on June 18, 1984 in the United States. His highest-charting album, Send Me Your Love reached number five on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and spawned the hit singles "Baby Don't Break Your Baby's Heart", "Are You the Woman" and "Ooh Love". In 1985, "Edgartown Groove" brought Kashif and Al Jarreau a Grammy Award nomination for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. Send Me Your Love was digitally remastered for the first time by Finesse Records in 2008. In 2012, Funky Town Grooves also remastered and expanded the album including six additional bonus tracks.
"Peace in Mississippi" is an instrumental by Jimi Hendrix. The version included on Voodoo Soup is the original version of the song, as recorded by Hendrix, drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Noel Redding in 1968, and different from the version of "Peace in Mississippi" included on Crash Landing, in which Mitchell's and Redding's contributions were supplanted by overdubbed drum and bass parts performed by other musicians in 1975; the version on Crash Landing also includes overdubbed guitar and percussion parts performed in 1975. In addition, the version on Voodoo Soup is about a minute longer than the one on Crash Landing. The version of "Peace in Mississippi" included on the Valleys of Neptune CD single, that was sold exclusively at Walmart, has the unedited version of the song, and so does the B-side of the 2010 release of Hendrix's version of Elmore James's "Bleeding Heart".

It was written and recorded in 2013–2014, and was released on July 4, 2014. Aside from the occasional few new tracks found in the band's many compilation and cover albums, Now is the band's first full album of new compositions since 2006's Chicago XXX,. This album has the first original Chicago credits for veteran musicians Walfredo Reyes, Jr. and Lou Pardini, since joining the band.

The album is a companion piece to Springsteen's 500-plus-page autobiography, Born to Run, which was released four days later. The career-spanning album features eighteen songs handpicked by Springsteen, five of which have never been released. The album contains Springsteen's earliest recording from 1966 and late '60s/early '70s songs from his tenure in The Castiles, Steel Mill and the Bruce Springsteen Band along with his first 1972 demos for Columbia Records and songs from his studio albums from 1973 until 2012.
