Petaling Jaya, commonly called "PJ" is a city in Petaling District, in the state of Selangor, Malaysia. Originally developed as a satellite township for Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, it is part of the Greater Kuala Lumpur area. Petaling Jaya was granted city status on 20 June 2006. It has an area of approximately 97.2 square kilometres (37.5 sq mi).
Malaysian Idol is the Malaysian version of the Idol Series that started in UK, similar to shows such as UK's Pop Idol and American Idol in the franchise. This show is a contest to determine the best young singer in Malaysia, with the winner receiving a major record deal, although some runners-up have achieved enough fame to ink record deals of their own. Like any other Idol show, the winner is decided by public votes. Indonesian Idol is a reality television singing competition created by Simon Fuller and produced by RCTI Production Team and FremantleMedia Asia, which began airing on RCTI in March 2004 and became one of the most popular shows in the history of Indonesian television. Part of the Idol franchise, it was as a spin-off from the UK show Pop Idol.
StarStruck Kids is the junior season of StarStruck, is a 2004 Philippine television reality talent competition show, was broadcast on GMA Network. The season ended with 72 episodes on June 26, 2004, having Kurt Perez and Sam Bumatay as the junior Ultimate Survivors. It was replaced by Pinoy Pop Superstar in its timeslot.
Ídolos was a Brazilian reality television competition to find new solo singing talent. Part of the Idol franchise, it was created by Simon Fuller as a spin-off from the British show Pop Idol, of which two series were broadcast between 2001 and 2003.
One in a Million is a Malaysian reality-competition show. It is the first reality singing competition to offer a RM 1 million prize to the winner. The show began airing on 8TV, a terrestrial television station in Malaysia, on 26 May 2006.

Please Give Me a Job! is a Malaysian reality television programme produced by Red Communications and 8TV which features 10 fresh graduates vying for job placements in various companies. In each episode, the contestants compete in groups and take on various tasks. Created by Ahmad Izham Omar in cooperation with SEGi university college, it is hosted by Azah Yasmin. Datuk Clement Hii as the CEO of SEGi Education Group also plays a role in the show as mentor to the contestants, who appears in the beginning of each episode to give a short briefing to them in which he gives words of wisdom.

The second season began on 16 November 2007, resuming to its former timeslot at 9:30 pm on 8TV. The season had been marred by a restriction imposed on 8TV against airing live telecasts, as a result of season one's runner-up Faizal Tahir breaching the decency code during 8TV's birthday concert on mid-January 2008. Nevertheless, the show went on and on 29 February 2008, in a Grand Finale which was aired delayed by 30 minutes from Shah Alam, Sabahan Norayu Damit became the overall champion and new owner of RM1,000,000 as funding for a musical career.
The third season of the Malaysian reality talent show Project SuperStar Malaysia, based on the Singaporean reality show of the same name began on 2 February 2008 on 8TV. For the third consecutive season, Gary Yap and Cheryl Lee returned as hosts.
So You Think You Can Dance is a dance reality show and competition aired on 8TV. Premiered on 5 April 2007, it is based on the original United States version of the same name. Dewi Remaja is a beauty pageant and reality television show in which a number of aspiring Malaysian women compete for the title of "Dewi Remaja" and the opportunity to start a career in the modelling or acting industry based in Malaysia. Created and organized by the Remaja magazine owned by the Kumpulan Media Karangkraf Sdn. Bhd while Astro television is the main broadcaster of the contest. Since its establishment in 1985, the pageant have crowned 11 winners. The winner is crowned by the previous edition's titleholder.
