The Urges are a psychedelic garage rock music group from Dublin, Ireland.

The Urges were formed in Dublin, Ireland in 2003. In 2004 they played the Oxegen festival's 'new band' stage and shortly afterwards recruited drummer Ken Mooney. Their debut single "Around and (Around Again)" was produced by Pete Holadai of The Radiators From Space. It reached number 20 in the Irish singles charts. The B-side "Jenny Jenny" was later included on the Parisian "Gloria Club" compilation alongside The Chesterfield Kings and The Hives.
In 2005, The Urges added organ playing to their sound and used reverb extensively. After scrapping their first attempts at a studio album, they began to record a number of lo-fi home recordings which grabbed the attention of promoters throughout Europe where they began to build a steady fanbase. In August 2006 The Urges were invited to play the Primitive festival of garage music in Rotterdam where they met Jorge Explosion of Circo Perrotti studios.
They started work on their debut LP, Psych Ward, at the end of November at Jorge's analogue studio in Gijon, Spain. After five days of recording and a rushed mix they played the Purple Weekend festival at the Estadio Hispánico in León, Spain alongside Kula Shaker and The Electric Prunes. After another mix the album was released in October 2007 on Screaming Apple, Off the Hip and Stomping Ground record labels to positive reviews worldwide.
On top of the success of Psych Ward The Urges went to New York to play the Cavestomp festival which saw the return of The Sonics and The Alarm Clocks. After Cavestomp they played a number of gigs across the city and traveled to New Jersey where they recorded a live radio session for Joe Belocks show on WFMU.
The Urges signed to Little Steven Van Zandt's Wicked Cool record label in New York in 2008. Psych Ward was re-released in September, featuring the "Jenny Jenny" the B-side of "Around and (Around Again)". The vinyl release featured a bonus CD containing the album plus "Around" and the previously unreleased "Don't Lead Me On" from the recordings of their scrapped album. They recorded a session for Dan Hegarty's 2FM radio show that summer followed by an appearance at The Electric Picnic which was also recorded for 2FM and recorded a session for Mark Lamarr's radio show on BBC2 in November.
In April 2012, the band released their single "Fire Burning" B/W "I've Been Here Before" on 7" vinyl and CD on Northern Irish based independent label Mersol Music. The single reached number 7 in a chart for physical singles sales.
In April 2015, The Urges released another single, taken from their forthcoming second album. "Passing Us By" B/W "Corners Of Her Mind" was released on a limited edition 7" vinyl format on the Mersol Music label as an official release for Record Store Day 2015 in the UK and Ireland. The release of this single brought the band considerable local media attention and reviews in many international music publications as well as having a high level of online coverage.

Stereophonics are a Welsh rock band formed in 1992 in the village of Cwmaman in the Cynon Valley, Wales. The band consists of Kelly Jones, Richard Jones, Adam Zindani, Jamie Morrison and touring member Tony Kirkham (keyboards). The group previously included Stuart Cable (1992–2003) and then Javier Weyler (2004–2012) on drums. Stereophonics have released twelve studio albums, including eight UK number one albums. A successful compilation album, Decade in the Sun, was released in November 2008 and charted at number two on the UK Album Chart.
Therapy? are a rock band from Northern Ireland. The band was formed in 1989 by guitarist-vocalist Andy Cairns from Ballyclare and drummer-vocalist Fyfe Ewing. Therapy? recorded their first demo with Cairns filling in on bass guitar. To complete the lineup, the band recruited Larne bassist Michael McKeegan. The band signed with major label A&M Records in 1992, for which they released four albums, most notably Troublegum in 1994 and Infernal Love in 1995. Ewing's departure in early 1996 preceded the arrivals of his replacement Graham Hopkins, and Martin McCarrick on cello and guitar. Neil Cooper replaced Hopkins on drums in 2002. Following the departure of McCarrick in 2004, the band have remained a stable three-piece since.
Loop are an English rock band, formed in 1986 by Robert Hampson in Croydon. The group topped the UK independent charts with their albums Fade Out (1989) and A Gilded Eternity (1990). Their dissonant "trance-rock" sound drew on the work of artists like the Stooges, Suicide and Can, and helped to resurrect the concept of space rock in the late 1980s.

Ross Andrew Hannaford was an Australian musician, active in numerous local bands. He was often referred to by his nickname "Hanna". Widely regarded as one of the country's finest rock guitarists, he was best known for his long collaboration with singer-songwriter Ross Wilson, which began as teenagers, with The Pink Finks and forming the seminal early '70s Australian rock band Daddy Cool. Hannaford died of cancer after being diagnosed a year earlier.
Mugstar are an English rock band, influenced by kraut/psych/space/noise rock such as Oneida, Sonic Youth, Neu! and Hawkwind. Since 2003 they have issued several full-length albums, a split release with Mudhoney and two live albums performing on stage together with Damo Suzuki. Mugstar recorded one of the last-ever Peel Sessions with the late John Peel on 5 May 2004. The Chevelles are a power pop band from Perth, Western Australia. They formed in 1989 and have toured Australia, Europe, the United States and South America.
Future Kings of Spain were an Irish rock band formed in Dublin 2000 by Joey Wilson, Anton Hegarty and Bryan McMahon. The three had played together with ex-Spudgun guitarist Dave Layde in Mediumwave between 1996 and 1999. The band released two studio LPs Future Kings of Spain (2003) and Nervousystem (2007) and one EP Les Debemos (2004). In September 2009 after a period of inactivity, a number of music media outlets reported on the statement on the band's website announcing how the band had "brought things to a close", though not giving a reason for this apparent break-up.

The Linus Pauling Quartet was an American psychedelic rock group which specializes in a specific subgenre known as "Texas Psych", but frequently dabbles also in garage rock, stoner rock, punk rock, and heavy metal at various points throughout their discography. The LP4 was formed in 1994 by veterans of various local groups from the Houston and Clear Lake areas of Texas. Born of the same musical cauldron that birthed such renowned Texas Psych favorites as The Mike Gunn, Dry Nod, and Schlong Weasel, bands which also included later members of Charalambides and Dunlavy, the LP4 got off the ground when guitarist Ramon Medina and bassist Stephen Finley recruited drummer Larry Liska and singer/guitarist Clinton Heider and the quartet began writing and recording songs for their first album, Immortal Chinese Classics Music, released in 1995 on their own Worship Guitars label. The album surprisingly earned considerable attention beyond their native Houston, garnering notable reviews in several music magazines such as Q Music, Factsheet Five, Alternative Press, Crohinga Well, and Ptolemaic Terrascope, and featured "The Linus Theme" and "Hamburger Girl", two songs which came to define the band's early years, and which the LP4 revisited many times throughout their career.
