The War Cross (Norwegian : Krigskorset) is a full-length musical work in thirty movements composed by Marcus Paus on commission from the Norwegian Armed Forces. The work was premiered and released as an album by the Norwegian Army Music Corps in 2023. The Norwegian Armed Forces commissioned Paus to compose a work that would be "identity-building and unifying" by depicting "the emotions behind the many stories of the War Cross, honoring those who have received the recognition, and perhaps inspire others to effort for Norway." [1] [2] The work is composed with a view to be performed both in its entirety and in individual parts for various occasions. It is the most comprehensive commission the Norwegian Armed Forces has ever given for the creation of new music for military use since the modern Army was founded in 1628. [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]
The Royal Norwegian Navy is the branch of the Norwegian Armed Forces responsible for naval operations of Norway, including those of the Norwegian Coast Guard. The War Cross with Sword is the highest ranking Norwegian gallantry decoration. It is awarded for extraordinary brave actions or extraordinary leadership during combat. A recipient deemed worthy of additional citations will receive up to an additional two swords on the medal ribbon in addition to the "standard" single sword. Additional citations are rare: Gunnar Sønsteby is the only person to have received the War Cross with three swords.

Paus is regarded as "one of the most celebrated classical composers of Norway" and "the leading Norwegian composer of his generation."

The Norwegian Armed Forces Joint Medical Services is the joint medical services of the Norwegian Armed Forces. It is led by the head of the Joint Medical Services who is a Major-General or Rear Admiral. It is headquartered at the teaching hospital Medisinsk Utdannings- og kompetansesenter in Sessvollmoen near Oslo. It was established in London on 7 July 1941 and formed part of the Norwegian High Command. Before 1941 the medical services of the different branches of the military were separate. The history of the medical services of the Norwegian armed forces date back to the 15th century in the case of the navy and the 17th century in the case of the army.
Eirik Johan Kristoffersen is a Norwegian Army General who serves as the head of the Norwegian Armed Forces. He is a former Chief of the Norwegian Army and Norwegian Home Guard, and Chief of the Armed Forces' Special Command (FSK).

It is based on the worldwide use of the expression "Glory to Ukraine" as a symbol of resistance and solidarity during the 2022 Russian invasion, and is loosely inspired by a motif from the opening of Ukraine's national anthem.
Forsvarets forum is an independently edited magazine published by the Norwegian Armed Forces that covers the armed forces as well as defense and security policy. It was founded in 1945 and is headquartered at Akershus Fortress, with a smaller office at Bardufoss. The printed magazine is published six times annually. In 2018 the magazine received the award "trade magazine of the year." As of 2010 the magazine had a circulation of 85,000. As of 2018 the printed magazine had a circulation of around 65,000. Forsvarets forum also publishes the podcast "Krig & Sånn." The editor-in-chef is Stian Eisenträger.
Stian Andre Ebbesvik Eisenträger is a Norwegian journalist and the current editor-in-chief of Forsvarets forum, an independently edited magazine published by the Norwegian Armed Forces that covers the armed forces as well as defense and security policy. Eisenträger worked as a foreign affairs journalist at Verdens Gang from 2007 to 2020, and was the newspaper's acting head of foreign news. In 2020 he became the editor-in-chief of Forsvarets forum. He also worked as a journalist at Forsvarets forum from 2003 to 2004, when serving his conscription service in the Norwegian military. In 2018 he was one of the recipients of the Internasjonal Reporter Prize at SKUP, for the article series "Det hvite raseriet."
On 25 June 2022, two people were killed and twenty-one people were wounded in a mass shooting in Oslo, Norway. Police are treating the incident as an "act of Islamist terrorism". The target may have been the Oslo LGBTQ pride event, which was hosted by the local branch of the Norwegian Organisation for Sexual and Gender Diversity.
The Helge Ingstad collision was a ship collision between the Norwegian frigate Helge Ingstad and the Maltese tanker Sola TS. The accident happened on the night of 8 November 2018 in the Hjeltefjorden north of the Sture Terminal in Øygarden.
