The Weavers (German : Die Weber) is a 1927 German silent historical drama film directed by Frederic Zelnik and starring Paul Wegener, Valeska Stock and Hermann Picha. The film is based on the 1892 play of the same title by Gerhart Hauptmann based on a historical event. [1] The film's art direction was by Andrej Andrejew.
During the 1840s a group of Silesian weavers stage an uprising due to their concerns about the Industrial Revolution's impact of their lives.

Valeska Stock (1887–1966) was a German actress who appeared in around thirty films in supporting roles. Stock originally trained as a ballet dancer in her native Breslau, before moving into theatre and then into the film industry. She played the wife of Paul Wegener's Fabrikant Dreißiger in the 1927 film The Weavers. Her final appearance was a small role in the 1949 East German production Rotation.
