The Whirlwind is the third studio album by the band Transatlantic, released on October 23, 2009. It is available in three formats: a standard edition, a double disc special edition and a deluxe edition with a 105-minute making-of DVD. [3]
The main album, while indexed into twelve tracks, is considered one song. It is represented as one track on the band's third and fourth live album Whirld Tour 2010: Live in London and More Never Is Enough: Live In Manchester & Tilburg 2010 respectively. [4]
The bonus disc (which comes with the Special and Deluxe Editions) includes eight new studio recordings: four original Transatlantic songs and four cover songs, which are "The Return of the Giant Hogweed" by Genesis, "A Salty Dog" by Procol Harum, a combination of America's and The Beatles "I Need You" and Santana's "Soul Sacrifice". At the end of the second disc, there is a hidden track by the band, played on ukulele with vocals.
The album peaked number 21 in the Top Heatseekers chart and number 45 in the German album chart. [5] [6]

Transatlantic is a multinational progressive rock supergroup consisting of Neal Morse, Roine Stolt, Pete Trewavas and Mike Portnoy. They formed in 1999 as a side project to their full-time bands, but disbanded in 2002. They then reunited in 2009.
Neal Morse is an American singer, musician and composer based in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1992, he formed the progressive rock band Spock's Beard with his brother Alan and released an album which was moderately successful. In 1999, he joined Dream Theater's co-founder and then drummer Mike Portnoy, together with Flower Kings' Roine Stolt and Marillion's Pete Trewavas they formed the super-group Transatlantic. In 2002, Neal Morse became a born again Christian, left Spock's Beard and began a Christian rock solo career, releasing many progressive rock concept albums about his new religious faith. In the meantime, he continued to play with Transatlantic and formed three new bands with Portnoy, Yellow Matter Custard, Flying Colors and The Neal Morse Band.
Wings at the Speed of Sound is the fifth studio album by the British–American rock band Wings, released on 26 March 1976. Issued at the height of the band's popularity, it reached the top spot on the US album chart—the band's fourth consecutive album to do so—and peaked at number 2 on the UK album chart. This was the second-to-last show of the "Whirld Tour" in support of the band's third studio album, The Whirlwind.
Testimony 2 is a progressive rock concept album by Neal Morse. It was released on 23 May 2011, as a continuation of his first Christian prog album (Testimony) and contains three sections detailing the composer's life and conversion to Christianity. Neal returns with his normal solo-album bandmates Mike Portnoy and Randy George, but he also features many guests, including a vocal reunion of Spock's Beard in the song "Time Changer", which focuses on Neal's past with his original band.
