Thedwastre South Division is an electoral division in Mid Suffolk District, Suffolk which returns a single County Councillor to Suffolk County Council.
Thedwastre South is a largely rural division covering the South and East of the former Thedwastre Hundred area of Mid Suffolk, from the West of Stowmarket to Thurston. It's has higher-than-average proportion of people over the age of 45. [1]
It's been held by current Lib Dem leader Penny Otton since a 2007 by election following the resignation of former opposition leader Sue Sida-Lockett, who had transferred from Thedwastre North following the 2005 boundary changes.

East Hertfordshire is one of ten local government districts in Hertfordshire, England. Its council is based in Hertford, the county town of Hertfordshire. The largest town in the district is Bishop's Stortford, and the other main towns are Ware, Buntingford and Sawbridgeworth. At the 2011 Census, the population of the district was 137,687. By area it is the largest of the ten local government districts in Hertfordshire. The district borders North Hertfordshire, Stevenage, Welwyn Hatfield and Broxbourne in Hertfordshire, and Epping Forest, Harlow and Uttlesford in Essex.
Mid Suffolk is a local government district in Suffolk, England. The district is primarily a rural area, containing just three towns, being Stowmarket, Needham Market and Eye. Its council was based in Needham Market until 2017 when it moved to shared offices with neighbouring Babergh District Council in Ipswich, outside either district. In 2021 it had a population of 103,417.

Thedwastre was a rural district in West Suffolk, England from 1894 to 1974. Thedwastre was formed under the Local Government Act 1894, from the part of the Stow Rural Sanitary District which was in West Suffolk. It was named after the historic hundred of Thedwastre.
In the 2011 United Kingdom local elections, the Conservative Party held onto the Mid Suffolk District Council for a third term and even increased their majority. The Liberal Democrats lost four seats but remained in second place while the Green Party and the Labour Party each gained a seat, which is Labour's only seat on the Council.
