June Kathleen Lloyd,Baroness Lloyd of Highbury,DBE,FRCP,FRCP Edin,FRCGP was a British paediatrician and,in retirement,a cross bench member of the House of Lords. June Lloyd was a determined advocate for children's health and was instrumental in the establishment of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. In 1996,the college gained its royal status. She was also known for discovering that the damage caused to patients by the rare metabolic disease oQ-betalipoproteinaemia,that could be avoided by the use of Vitamin E. She was also known for discovering the role of lipid metabolism in health and disease in childhood,which was original and difficult to investigate at that time.
Makerere University is Uganda's largest and oldest institution of higher learning,first established as a technical school in 1922,and the oldest currently active university in East Africa. It became an independent national university in 1970. Today,Makerere University is composed of nine colleges and one school offering programmes for about 36,000 undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates. The main administrative block was gutted by fire in September 2020 and the cause of the fire is yet to be established.
Speciosa Naigaga Wandira Kazibwe,is a Ugandan politician and first female vice president in Africa. She was the sixth vice president of Uganda from 1994 to 2003,making her the first woman in Africa to hold the position of vice-president of a sovereign nation. Dr. Speciosa Kazibwe is also a Ugandan surgeon. She is also referred to as "Nnalongo",because of her twins. In August 2013,she was appointed by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as United Nations Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa.

Currently he is Professor of Epidemiology and Head of Department of Epidemiology &Biostatistics at Makerere University School of Public Health. He is a professor of medicine and former principal of the Makerere University College of Health Sciences,a semi-autonomous constituent college of Makerere University.
David M. Serwadda is a Ugandan physician,medical researcher,academic,public health specialist and medical administrator. Currently he is a Professor of Public Health at Makerere University School of Public Health,one of the schools of Makerere University College of Health Sciences,a semi-autonomous constituent college of Makerere University,the oldest university in Uganda. Serwadda is also a founding member of Accordia Global Health Foundation's Academic Alliance.
Harriet Mayanja-Kizza,MBChB,MMed,MSc,FACP,is a Ugandan physician,researcher,and academic administrator. She is the former Dean of Makerere University School of Medicine,the oldest medical school in East Africa,established in 1924.

Damalie Nakanjako,is a Ugandan specialist physician,internist,immunologist,infectious diseases consultant,academic and researcher,who serves as the Principal and Professor of Medicine at Makerere University College of Health Sciences. Immediately prior to her present position,she served as Dean of Makerere University School of Medicine,from 2019 until 17 February 2021.
Juliet Sekabunga Nalwanga is a physician from Uganda,who is the country's first female neurosurgeon. As of 2021 she was one of only thirteen neurosurgeons in Uganda. As of 2018 she was employed by Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala.
Morenike Oluwatoyin Folayan Ukpong is a Nigerian medical scientist who specialises in adolescent health,HIV/AIDS research,and paediatric dentistry. She is Professor of Paediatric Dentistry at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU),where she has worked since 2002.
Liesl Zühlke is a South African cardiologist who specialises in paediatric and rheumatic heart disease. She works at Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital as a paediatric cardiologist,and is the only one in her country to serve as a full professor in paediatric cardiology.
