Thomas Hill is an American clarinetist known for his work as a soloist and chamber musician. He is currently the principal clarinetist of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra and a member of the Boston Chamber Music Society.

Education

Hill earned a bachelor's and master's degree in clarinet performance with honors from the New England Conservatory of Music. He also attended the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied under Robert Marcellus. [1]

Career

As a chamber musician, Hill has performed, toured, recorded and broadcast throughout the United States, Latin America, and Asia as a member of the Aeolian Chamber Players and the Boston Chamber Music Society. He has played on innumerable concert and festival series, and has been widely engaged as a soloist and ensemble performer in New York, Los Angeles, and Boston. [2] Hill is the former principal clarinetist of the New Haven Symphony, the Long Beach Symphony, the Mainly Mozart Festival Orchestra, the Handel and Haydn Society, the Cascade Festival Orchestra and the San Diego Symphony. He is also a former member of the Kansas City Woodwind Quintet. [3] Hill is also a former faculty member of the New England Conservatory, the Boston Conservatory, Longy School of Music, the Foundation for Chinese Performing Arts, New York University, the University of California Los Angeles, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and the University of Missouri. He has been a member of the Boston Chamber Music Society since 1983. [4]

Lynn Chang is a Chinese American violinist known for his work as both a soloist and a chamber musician. Chang is a founding member of the Boston Chamber Music Society and is currently a faculty member at MIT, Boston University, the Boston Conservatory, and the New England Conservatory of Music.

Marcus Thompson is a violist and viola d'amore player known for his work as a recitalist, orchestral soloist, chamber musician, recording artist and educator. Thompson is a founding member and is currently Artistic Director of the Boston Chamber Music Society, and is Institute Professor at MIT and a faculty member at the New England Conservatory of Music.

Allan Vogel is an American oboist and educator. He was the former Principal Oboe of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra.

Sherman Friedland Musical artist

Sherman Friedland was Associate Professor of Fine Arts as well as an active clarinetist, professor of music and conductor at Concordia University in Montreal from 1960 until his retirement in 1997. He was conductor and Music Director of the Concordia University Symphony for 17 years, and was clarinetist, director and founder of the Concordia Chamber Players. Sherman Friedland died January 26, 2017.

The Missouri Chamber Music Festival and Adult Chamber Music Intensive (ACMI) was founded in 2010. The goal of the MOCM Festival concerts is to present the fine art of small ensemble music to a wide audience through an accessible, community-based festival. The ACMI workshop is the educational portion of the festival, placing adult instrumentalists in chamber ensembles with Festival artists for coaching and performance.

Rueibin Chen is a Taiwanese concert pianist, who was selected by the government in a talent search and sent to Vienna, where he obtained a concert diploma at the Conservatory. Subsequently, he received a soloist's examination award from the Hannover Hochschule für Musik and then continued his study under the Russian pianist Lazar Berman.

Tulsa Youth Symphony

The Tulsa Youth Symphony Orchestra (TYS) is an Oklahoma nonprofit arts organization founded in 1963 to provide advanced orchestral training and performance experience for young musicians in Northeastern Oklahoma. As of 2016, more than 200 students, ages 8 to 18, participate in the program’s two orchestras. The orchestra is composed of students from northeast Oklahoma communities and schools including Tulsa, Bartlesville, Owasso, Sapulpa, Sand Springs, Broken Arrow, Bixby, Coweta, Grove, Oologah, Jenks, and Holland Hall, as well as home schooled children.
