Thomas L. Monahan III is Chief Executive Officer and President of DeVry University, a for-profit higher education institution. [1] [2] He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of CEB, which was acquired by Gartner, before resigning in 2017. [3] [4] He also serves as chairman of ProKarma and a board member of Transunion. [5] [6]

He holds degrees from Harvard University and New York University Stern School of Business. [7]

Career

Prior to 1996, Monahan served as a senior consultant at the Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group, a director at the Committee for Economic Development, and a staff consultant at Andersen Consulting. [8] [9]

Monahan joined the leadership team of CEB (formerly the Corporate Executive Board) in 1996. He was named its chief executive in 2005 and chairman in 2008. [10] [11] He presided over an expansion of revenue, which increased 157% from 2005 to 2016. [11] During his term, CEB acquired Evanta Ventures, a Portland-based best practice insight and technology company. [12]  CEB was acquired by Gartner in 2017 for $2.6 billion. [13] [14] He stepped down from CEB Inc. in June 2017. [13]

Monahan serves as chairman of ProKarma and a board member of Transunion. [5] [6] In August 2020, he was appointed president and CEO of DeVry University. [1] [2]

He has contributed several articles on business topics, including for CNBC, Fortune, and Harvard Business Review. [15] [16] [17] [18] He authored a column in The Washington Post called “Talent Matters." [19]

Personal life

Monahan is married to Sharon Kerrie Marcil, who graduated from Duke University and received an M.B.A. from Harvard University. [20] Marcil is the North America regional chair at the Boston Consulting Group. [21]

CEB was acquired by Gartner in 2017. CEB's Talent Assessment business was acquired from Gartner by Exponent Private Equity in 2018. The CEB Talent Assessment Business was re-branded as SHL in 2018. Brainbench provided online certifications mainly in the Information Technology field and others in general. The company provided services to more than 5,000 corporate clients and over 6 million individuals. Some of Brainbench's 630 exams were available free of charge, while others were administered for a fee.

Loudoun County, Virginia is divided into eight magisterial districts: Algonkian, Ashburn, Blue Ridge, Broad Run, Catoctin, Dulles, Leesburg, and Sterling. The magisterial districts each elect one supervisor to the Board of Supervisors which governs Loudoun County. There is also a Chair elected by the county at-large, bringing total Board membership to nine. A Vice-Chair is selected by the Board from among its membership. The current Chair is Phyllis Randall. CEB, formerly Corporate Executive Board, now a part of Gartner, was a company providing best practice research, benchmarks, and decision support tools to business leaders in HR, Finance, IT, Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, Strategy, R&D, Procurement, Legal, and Compliance functions globally. It was one of the first firms to offer a subscription pricing model for insights and advice, challenging the prevailing consulting delivery model and paving the way for subscription-as-a-service ("SaaS") pricing models now favored by software companies. Gartner announced its acquisition of CEB in January 2017, completed the acquisition in April 2017, and integrated the company in July 2018.

Engility Holdings, Inc. was an American publicly traded company that provided engineering and logistics services to several United States Armed Forces and civilian agencies. The company based in Chantilly, Virginia was formed in 2012 as a spin-off of the services division of L3 Technologies. As of 2017, Engility reports an annual revenue of about $2 billion. On September 10, 2018, Science Applications International Corporation announced it was buying Engility for about $2.5 billion with the brand being retired.

Leo F. Mullin is an American executive and civic activist who served as CEO and Chairman of Delta Air Lines (1997-2004). He led Delta during one of the most tumultuous periods in aviation history, beginning in 1997, just as airlines were struggling to emerge from the economic crises of the early 1990s. Three years into his tenure as CEO, he also was named Board Chairman of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), representing the world’s airlines. Mullin achieved particular prominence following the September 11, 2001 tragedy when, with the airline industry on the brink of failure, he served as the chief legislative and public spokesperson for the industry’s recovery program. He ended his service to Delta by retiring from his position as CEO in 2003, and as chairman of the board in 2004. After Delta, Mullin has emerged as a leader in both the public and private sectors, serving other companies and continuing to be a philanthropic contributor.

Suzanne P. Clark is an American business executive. She is currently the president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the first woman to hold that office. She was previously the chief operating officer and senior executive vice president for the group. Prior to this she was president of National Journal Group, and founded the Potomac Research Group.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Glenn Youngkin</span> Governor of Virginia since 2022

Glenn Allen Youngkin is an American businessman and politician currently serving as the 74th governor of Virginia since 2022. A member of the Republican Party, he spent 25 years at the private-equity firm the Carlyle Group, where he became co-CEO in 2018. He resigned from that position in 2020 to run for governor.
