Thy Geekdom Con is a multi-genre convention held annually at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks, PA. The convention has a wide array of activities that feature panels, live performances, video game tournaments, artist alley, dealers room, and celebrity guests. [2]

The convention holds panels and workshops on comic books, video gaming, costuming, and related topics from popular culture. Free play and tournaments include Super Smash Bros., Tekken, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Marvel Vs. Capcom, Mortal Kombat, [3] and Dragon Ball FighterZ, [1] as well as board games and RPGs. [4] Live performances have included bands, DJs, hypnotists, [5] Rocky Horror Picture Show performances, karaoke, and Love Live! dance performances. [6]

History

The first convention was held on April 18 of 2015 in Glen Mills, PA. [7] The following three conventions were held at varying venues in the Wilmington, Delaware area from November 2015 to November 2017, and at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in 2018. [8] [9] [10] [11] The convention expanded to two days in 2017, and three days in 2018. [11] [12] [1] The 2020 convention was cancelled and deferred to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [13]

During its heyday from 2001 to 2008, the Big Apple Comic Con often featured multiple shows per year, with a large three-day "national" convention held in November, usually held at the Penn Plaza Pavilion. Fan Expo Boston, formerly Boston Comic Con, is a multigenre convention held annually in Boston, Massachusetts. Primarily focused on comic books, the convention later featured media guests from film and television, cosplayers, an art auction, a tabletop/CCG/RPG gaming room, and an annual costume contest. After its acquisition by Informa as part of their Fan Expo line, the 2017 edition retired the Comic Con name and was therefore renamed Fan Expo Boston.

Glass City Con X Midwest Media Expo was a two-day multi-genre convention held during July at the SeaGate Convention Centre in Toledo, Ohio. The convention was created by the merger of Glass City Con and Midwest Media Expo. This event only lasted a year before becoming inactive with an uncertain future.
