Tigist Tufa (born 26 January 1987) is an Ethiopian marathon runner.
She was the winner of the 2014 Shanghai Marathon, setting a new course record and a personal best time of 2:21:52.Her previous bests were 2:28:04 at the Los Angeles Marathon in 2013, followed by 2:24:32 at the 2014 Ottawa Marathon, where she also set a new course record.
She won the 2015 London Marathon in a time of 2:23:22, making her the first female Ethiopian to win the race in 14 years. The last Ethiopian to win the race was Deratu Tulu in 2001.
Mestawet Tufa is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. She was the winner of the women's 10,000 metres at the 2007 All-Africa Games and the runner up in the senior women's race at the 2008 World Cross Country Championships.
Ashu Kasim Rabo is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who specialises in the half marathon and marathon events. Her personal bests are 68:56 minutes and 2:23:09 hours, respectively.
Mary Jepkosgei Keitany is a Kenyan former professional long distance runner. She is the world record holder in a women-only marathon, having won the 2017 London Marathon in a time of 2:17:01. As of November 2022, she placed fifth on the world all-time list at the marathon and eleventh on the respective world all-time list for the half marathon.
Firehiwot Tufa Dado is a female long-distance runner from Ethiopia, who won the New York City Marathon in 2011 with a personal best time of 2:23:15 hours. She also took three consecutive victories in the Rome City Marathon.
Feyse Tadese Boru is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who competes in the half marathon.
Merima Mohammed Hasen is an Ethiopian professional long-distance runner who competes in road running events, including the marathon. Her personal best of 2:23:06 hours for the distance makes her the second fastest teenager ever over the 42.195 kilometres (26.219 mi) distance. She has won marathons in Düsseldorf, Nice and Ottawa. She represented Ethiopia at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 2011.
Erba Tiki Gelana is an Ethiopian professional long-distance runner who competes in marathon races. Her personal best of 2:18:58 had been the Ethiopian national record for the event from 2012 to 2017. She won the 2011 Amsterdam Marathon and the 2012 Rotterdam Marathon. She won the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics with a time of 2:23:07, a new Olympic record.
Tirfi Tsegaye Beyene is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who competes in marathon races. She has won the Berlin Marathon, the Paris Marathon, the Tokyo Marathon, and the Dubai Marathon. Her personal best of 2:20:18 hours came as winner of the 2014 Berlin Marathon.
Yeshi Esayias Tessema is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who competes in marathon races. Her personal best for the distance is 2:24:06 hours. She has won races in Ottawa and Montreal and is a two-time winner of the Taipei International Marathon and Daegu Marathon. She has also finished second at the Tokyo Marathon (twice) and the Beijing Marathon.
The 2013 New York City Marathon was the 43rd running of the annual marathon race in New York City, United States, which took place on Sunday, November 3. It followed a one-year hiatus after the 2012 event was canceled due to Hurricane Sandy. Geoffrey Mutai of Kenya won the men's division with a time of 2:08:24, his second consecutive win in New York. Priscah Jeptoo, also from Kenya, won the women's division with a time of 2:25:07. The two winners each received $100,000 in prize money, with Jeptoo capturing the World Marathon Majors title for $500,000.
Almaz Ayana Eba is an Ethiopian female long-distance runner. She won the gold medal in the 10,000 metres and bronze for the 5000 metres at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Almaz is a four-time World Athletics Championships medallist earning a bronze for the 5000m in 2013, gold at the event in 2015 as well as gold in the 10,000m and silver for the 5000m in 2017.
The 2015 London Marathon was the 35th running of the annual marathon race in London, England, which took place on Sunday, 26 April. The men's elite race was won by Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge and the women's race was won by Ethiopian Tigist Tufa. The 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships marathon events were also held during the race. The men's wheelchair race was won by Josh George from the United States and the women's wheelchair race was won by American Tatyana McFadden. McFadden set a course record for the second year running.
Endeshaw Negesse Shumi is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who competes in the marathon. He won the Tokyo Marathon in 2015 and the Florence Marathon in 2012. His personal best is 2:04:52 hours.
The women's marathon at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Beijing National Stadium on 30 August.
The 2015 New York City Marathon was the 45th running of the annual marathon race in New York City, United States, which took place on November 1. The event was organised by the New York Road Runners and sponsored by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The main race saw the third successive time that Kenyans won both races. Stanley Biwott won the men's division with a time of 2:10:34. His compatriot Mary Jepkosgei Keitany claimed the women's division with a time of 2:24:25, her second consecutive win in New York. In the wheelchair divisions, South African Ernst van Dyk won the men's division with a time of 1:30:54 and American Tatyana McFadden won the women's division with a new record of 1:43:04.
Peres Jepchirchir is a Kenyan professional long-distance runner who competes mainly in road running competitions. She won the gold medal in the women's marathon at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Jepchirchir was the champion at the 2016 and 2020 World Half Marathon Championships. She claimed victories at the 2021 New York City and 2022 Boston Marathon and finished third at the 2023 London Marathon.
Volha Siarheyeuna Mazuronak is a Belarusian long-distance runner and former racewalker. She is a three-time national champion. Mazuronak has a marathon best of 2:23:54 and finished fourth at the London Marathon in 2016. She has won marathons in Siberia and California and was a silver medalist on the track at the 2015 Military World Games.
Tigst Assefa Tessema is an Ethiopian long-distance runner and the marathon female world record holder, the only woman in history to run the distance under two hours and 12 minutes as well as two hours and 13 minutes. She has competed in and won two top-tier World Marathon Majors, both in Berlin. A former 800 metres specialist, Tigst was the first woman to break 2:00 in the event and 2:20:00 in the marathon, and remains the only woman under 2:00 and 2:13:00, respectively.

An Elite Platinum Label marathon, it was the first of four World Marathon Majors events to be held over the span of six weeks. 45,527 runners with 34,879 finishers from 157 countries have taken part in the event.
