Angela Mizinga (known as Empress Tigris or simply Tigris) is a Malawian singer/rapper from Ntcheu, Malawi. [1]
Mizinga was born on 14 May to Mr and Mrs T.J. Mizinga as the last born of 10 children, in Ntcheu District. Tigris is not a signed artist, but already has a fan base across Africa and beyond, thanks to the performance she had this year at the Big Brother Amplified Eviction show on 12 June 2011, which gave her exposure to millions. Her dancers are The Elements Dance Crew who are the current best dance crew in Malawi according to the 'U Got Dance Moves' competition by Plusten Links.
Mizinga began her entertainment career as a radio presenter for Capital FM radio.
She became popular as a singer after featuring in "Anankabango" - with singer Young Kay and other singers. She does charity work by raising funds for primary education. She recently donated food and other items to children at Mzuzu Central Hospital.
Her debut album was released in February 2010 and featured collaborations with popular Malawi rappers and singers, Theo Thomson, Tay Grin and Young Kay. She featured in many shows within and outside Malawi. She has been to Johannesburg, Graham's town, Zambia and performed alongside artists including US's Sean Kingston, Brick and Lace, Teargas, Tay Grin and Theo Thomson. She appeared in most Lake of Stars festivals.
Tigris was a nominee for the Malawi Music Awards for Best Female Artist and Best Afro-Pop Artist of 2010–2011. She started her career as a professional musician in August 2009 and already has an album called Gimme a Break which did well on VOA, BBC and most Malawian radio stations. Most of her singles made the charts and stayed in the top 3 for several weeks on Capitol Radio. Her song 'Hottest Chick', which she did with Tay Grin, stayed number one for months. Her second album, Dreams, came out in 2011.
Jordan Michael Houston III, known professionally as Juicy J, is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer, and record executive from Memphis, Tennessee. He is a founding member of the Southern hip hop group Three 6 Mafia, established in 1991, with whom he won an Academy Award for Best Original Song, for their single "It's Hard out Here for a Pimp". His most notable singles as a soloist are his features on the Top 40 singles: Mike Will Made It's "23", the Usher's "I Don't Mind" and his own single "Bandz a Make Her Dance". Music of Malawi has historically been influenced through its triple cultural heritage of British, African, and American music. Malawians have long been travelers and migrant workers, and as a result, their music has spread across the African continent and blended with other music forms. One of the prime historical causes of the Malawian musical melting pot was World War II, when soldiers both brought music to distant lands and also brought them back. By the end of the war, guitar and banjo duos were the most popular type of dance bands. Both instruments were imported. Malawians working in the mines in South Africa and Mozambique also led to fusion and blending in music styles, giving rise to music styles like Kwela.
E-Rotic are a Eurodance duo act formed in 1994 by German record producer David Brandes. The act is best known in Europe for the hits "Max Don't Have Sex With Your Ex" and "Fred Come to Bed". E-Rotic originally consisted of German born singer Lyane Leigh and American rapper Richard Allen Smith. The act is known for its use of sexual references and innuendo in their songs and music videos.

Limbani Kalilani is a Malawian hip hop artist better known by his stage name Tay Grin. In 2009 Tay Grin founded an Entertainment & Event Promotion company, which helps to promote events across Malawi. The company is known as Black Rhyno Entertainment. In 2014, Grin won a Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts (BEFFTA) award for Best International African Act. In 2016, he won the BEFFTA Star Award in the music category. He has performed at the annual Lake of Stars Music Festival. He also won the 2016 WatsUp TV Africa Music Video Awards Best Traditional Video award, with the Video Chipapapa featuring 2baba. He has also won numerous local awards like the Nyasa Music awards and the Urban Music People in categories such as best live act, best video and best Male artist. In 2018, he won the UMP Fashion awards for Most Fashionable Celebrity.
"Gimmie Dat" is a song by American singer-songwriter Ciara. The song was written by Ciara, along with its two producers Christopher "Tricky" Stewart and Kenneth "Soundz" Coby for her fourth studio album, Basic Instinct (2010). "Gimmie Dat" is an uptempo dance song, featuring speedy, kinetic beats and a sensual-breathy tone. The song has been compared to her previous hip hop-flavored dance songs, "Goodies", and "Work", and has also been compared to Missy Elliott's "Work It". "Gimmie Dat" was released as the third single from Basic Instinct on October 15, 2010. In some countries, the song was released alongside "Speechless", as a dual single.
The Real Elements is a Malawian hip-hop band that gained notoriety in the 1990s and 2000s in Malawi. The group consisted of Marvel, Plan B, Stix, and Q. The group holds a special place in the Malawian music industry because it propagated Malawian hip-hop and paved the way for the Malawian hip-hop genre at a time when they were a few hip-hop artists in Malawi. Their music was considered the cutting edge in the Malawi music scene. Critics argue that is the best urban group that has come out of Malawi. They performed in Malawi and their music was also featured on Channel O beaming Malawian hip-hop for the first time to a Pan African audience. In their UK tours they opened for UK hip-hop artists like Blak Twang and Terri Walker. It was just as their international career was taking off that the group separated. Stix decided to leave the music industry and follow religious pursuits. The group currently is pursuing personal interests.
Theo Thomson is a Malawian born singer, songwriter. Thomson is owner of the Blantyre-based Matalala Recording Studio. He lived in the UK, where he gained an interest in music with rapid artists productions performing and moved back to Malawi to expand his music career. His father is a former DJ and owner of Fm 101 Power radio Oscar Thomson. He is also the grandson of former Malawian Minister of Trade and Industry, Harry Thomson.

Maskal, born Masiye Kalso Kasaru on November 20, 1985, is a Malawian Afro-R&B singer from Ntcheu. His most popular song is "Udalire". He was nominated in two categories at the Malawian Music Awards (MMA) 2011 – "Best Male" and "Best R&B". He won Best Male Vocal for the MMA 2011.
Jamila Akiko Aba Chilombo, known as Mila J, is an American singer, songwriter, rapper and dancer. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she is the older sister of R&B singer Jhéne Aiko and is known for being in Prince's video for "Diamonds and Pearls" and appearing on tracks by RaRa, IMx, Trey Songz and Omarion. She released several singles in 2006–2009 under the name "Mila J" and then went on a hiatus for a number of years after the shelving of her original debut studio album, Split Personality, before returning as "Japallonia" in 2012 and then reverting to Mila J a year later.
Francis Kaphuka or Young Kay is a popular Malawian hip-hop artist that is known for fusing local Malawian folk songs with international genres. He is also nicknamed "Broken Knowledge" or "Hyphen". He is known for his vibrant sound and ability to mix Chichewa and English lyrics eloquently in his rhymes. This has earned him recognition as one of Malawi's best lyricists. He has been voted as Malawi’s best rapper twice Joy FM fans. He was introduced to Malawian audiences under Rush records with the single “I’m Home” and his popularity grew to solidify his place as one of Malawi's greatest hip-hop artists. He has had subsequent hits since then. His song “zipepese” number 2 on FM 101 Power’s urban music chart. In 2010 he collaborated with Malawian born rising act Onesimus Muzik on a track titled "Beautiful" He also collaborated with Lucius Banda, Tigris, and Maskal on track "Malawi Goodlife" in 2011.
