History

The school was built in the 1940s. [5] [6] It was expanded in stages throughout the 1960s. [7]

A reduced speed limit zone near the school was proposed in 2020. [8]

The school has had several cases of COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. [9] [10] If a provincial moratorium on rural school closures is removed, Tilbury District High School and other schools in the area may close. [11] [12]

The September 3, 1999, Ontario Highway 401 crash, was a multiple-vehicle collision that resulted from dense fog conditions on a section of Ontario Highway 401 between Windsor and Tilbury. There were 87 vehicles involved in the pile-up in both directions of the divided highway, killing eight people and injuring a further 45.
