Tilottama Sen (born 25 April 2008) is an Indian sport shooter from Bengaluru. [1] In October 2023 she won the silver medal in the women's 10m air rifle event at the Asian Shooting Championship at Changwon in South Korea, earning a quota place for the Paris Olympics . [2] She is the youngest Indian to win a quota for the Olympics, and if selected to the Indian team, she would be the third youngest Indian at Olympics in Paris. [3]

Early life and background

Sen's family hails from Kolkata but are residents of Bengaluru. [4] She is studying Class 9 at Bluebell Public School, Bengaluru. [4] She started with volleyball and karate [4] but shifted to shooting later on. Inspired by Abhinav Bindra’s exploits at the Olympics, her father Sujit Sen, who works at TechMahindra, encouraged her to take up sport shooting. Initially, her father had to use his provident fund and retirement savings to buy equipment for her daughter. [5] But soon she got support from the Reliance Foundation and TOPS programme. [6] She practices at the Karnataka State Rifle Association shooting range at the Sports Authority of India (South Centre) at Kengeri in Bengaluru [3] or at the Hawkeye Rifle Shooting Academy. [7]

Career

Sen won gold medal at the World Championship in Cairo in the women's junior category in October 2022. [6] In November 2022, she won two gold in the individual and team events at the Asian Airgun gold in Daegu, South Korea. [4] [8]

In March 2023, she made her senior international debut winning a bronze in the ISSF World Cup at Cairo, Egypt, [3] [4] despite a technical issue with her rifle. [5] But she missed the Asian Games selection trials. [9]

At the 2023 Asian Shooting Championships in Changwon, Sen won silver in the 10m Air Rifle, earning India a quota place to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. [10]

He is the only Indian shooter to win a gold medal in ISSF World Championship, ISSF World Cup, Youth Olympic Games, Asian Games and Asian Air Gun Championship. Swapnil Kusale is an Indian sport shooter from Maharashtra,supported by OGQ. Kusale qualified for the Paris Olympics winning the Olympic quota berth in the men’s 50-metre rifle 3-position event with a fourth place at the World championship in Cairo, Egypt on 22 October 2022.

Divyansh Singh Panwar is an Indian sport shooter, supported by OGQ. He won the silver medal in the 10 metre air rifle event at the 2019 ISSF World Cup in Beijing and secured a quota position for India at the 2020 Summer Olympics where he achieved rank 32 at the Men's 10 metre air rifle event.

Esha Singh is an Indian amateur shooter, supported by OGQ. She became the national champion in the 10m Air Pistol category in 2018. She was also conferred the Arjun Award for 2023 but missed the event on 9 January 2024 due to the Asian qualifier.

Hanieh Rostamian is an Iranian sports shooter. She represented Iran at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the Women's 10 metre air pistol event, where she placed tenth, and in the 10 metre air pistol mixed team event, where her team placed fifth. She was also one of Iran's two flag bearers. She also won Iran's first quota for the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Varun Tomar is an Indian sport shooter, supported by OGQ. He bagged an Olympic quota berth for the Paris Olympics in the 10m Air Pistol event by winning a gold medal at the Asian Olympic Qualifiers on 8 January 2024 at Jakarta.

Raiza Dhillon is an Indian sport shooter. She qualified for an Olympic quota berth for the Paris Olympics in the women's skeet event by winning a gold medal at the Asian shotgun championships, an Asian Olympic Qualifier on 20 January 2024 at Kuwait city. She became the first Indian woman to potentially qualify for an Olympic skeet event. It also brought the Indian Olympic quota count to 19. The quota berth won by a shooter is a berth for the country and the Federation, which can nominate any shooter for Olympics, as per set criteria.

Gwenllian Seren Thorne is a British sports shooter who won two medals at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Granada. She is the British Junior Women's record holder for both Qualification and Finals in the 10 metre air rifle event.
