Tim J. Freeman (born January 1965) is a small business owner and Republican politician from the U.S. state of Oregon. In 2008,he was elected to the Oregon House of Representatives representing District 2,which encompasses portions of Douglas,Jackson,and Josephine counties,including the cities of Canyonville,Glendale,Myrtle Creek,Riddle,and Roseburg.
Freeman was born in Santa Monica,California and was raised in Oakland,Oregon. He graduated from Oakland High School in 1983 and attended the Oregon Institute of Technology,where he studied computer systems engineering technology. [1] He worked as a field mechanic for a logging company and in 1991,he became the owner of the Garden Valley Shell service station in Roseburg. In 2007,Freeman graduated from the Douglas County Citizen Law Enforcement Academy. [1] [2]
Freeman has served on the Roseburg City Council since 2003,and served as council president for three years. From 2006 to 2007,he was the chair of the General Government Committee for the League of Oregon Cities. [1] In 2008,he ran for the seat in the Oregon House of Representatives vacated by Susan Morgan,who did not seek re-election. Freeman defeated Roseburg businessman Jim Fox in the Republican primary,and then defeated Democrat Harry McDermott in the general election. [3]
Freeman and his wife Angelia live in Roseburg and have two children. [2]

The community developed along both sides of the South Umpqua River and is traversed by Interstate 5. Traditionally a lumber industry town,Roseburg was the original home of Roseburg Forest Products,which is now based in nearby Springfield.
Umpqua Community College (UCC) is a public community college near Roseburg,Oregon. The college has sixteen campus buildings located on 100 acres (40 ha) bordering the North Umpqua River. The campus also features a track,tennis courts,and an outdoor pool. In 2009,a vineyard was added to the campus. About 3,300 full-time students and 16,000 part-time students attend UCC. Umpqua Community College serves the greater Douglas County region with the exception of Reedsport and its immediate area along the Oregon Coast.
Guy F. Cordon was an American author,politician and lawyer from the state of Oregon. A native of Texas,he served in the Army during World War I and later was the district attorney of Douglas County in Southern Oregon. A Republican,he was appointed and later won election to the United States Senate,serving in office from 1944 to 1955.

To replace him,former Oregon Supreme Court Associate Justice Ted Kulongoski won a crowded and competitive Democratic primary,while former State Representative Kevin Mannix emerged from an equally competitive Republican primary. The campaign between Kulongoski and Mannix,who were joined by Libertarian nominee Tom Cox,was close and went down to the wire. Ultimately,Kulongoski eked out a narrow margin of victory over Mannix,which was slightly smaller than Cox's total vote share,allowing Kulongoski to win what would be the first of two terms as governor. As of 2023,this is the last time that Oregon voted for a gubernatorial nominee and a U.S. Senate nominee of different political parties.
