The 2008–09 international cricket season was between September 2008 and March 2009. The season saw the security concerns for cricket in Pakistan reach a pinnacle. The ICC Champions Trophy,scheduled to be held in Pakistan in September 2008,was postponed to 2009 after five of the participating nations refused to send their teams for the event. In November 2008,a Pakistani militant group launched terror attacks in Mumbai. This led to India cancelling their tour of Pakistan originally scheduled for January and February 2009. Sri Lanka agreed to tour Pakistan in place of India. However,the tour was jeopardised by a terror attack in Lahore where gunmen fired at a bus carrying the Sri Lankan team,injuring six team members. The Champions Trophy was later relocated to South Africa. No international cricket were played in Pakistan for more than five years. This period of isolation ended when Zimbabwe toured Pakistan in May 2015. After successfully hosting a few T20Is against World-XI,the Sri Lanka cricket team and the West Indians from 2017 to 2018,a few matches of the Pakistan Super League from 2017 to 2019,the whole season in 2020 as well as hosting complete tours against Sri Lankan and Bangladeshi cricket teams respectively during the 2019–20 season,built a good reputation of Pakistan. Hence,by the end of 2019,the Pakistan Cricket Board,announced that they would no longer play any of their future home matches at a neutral venue,indicating that International Cricket has returned to the country on full-time basis.
The Sydney Sixers is an Australian professional franchise men's cricket team,competing in Australia's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition,the Big Bash League (BBL). Along with the Sydney Thunder,the Sixers are the successors of the New South Wales Blues who played in the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash. The Sixers play at Sydney Cricket Ground at Moore Park in Sydney's eastern suburbs,whilst the Thunder play at the Sydney Showground Stadium in the city's western suburbs. The inaugural coach was Trevor Bayliss,who was replaced in 2015 by current coach Greg Shipperd. The Sixers' inaugural captain was Australian wicket-keeper Brad Haddin. Both Steve Smith and Moises Henriques have also spent time captaining the team.
The Adelaide Strikers are an Australian professional Twenty20 franchise cricket team based in Adelaide,South Australia that compete in the Big Bash League (BBL). Their home ground is the Adelaide Oval,and they play in a cornflower blue uniform. The Strikers were formed in 2011 to play in the BBL,succeeding the Southern Redbacks,who played in the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash competition. Their sole victory in the BBL came in 2017–18.
Peter Michael Nevill is an Australian former cricketer who played 17 Tests and 9 T20 internationals for Australia. He also represented New South Wales and the Melbourne Stars,having previously played for the Melbourne Renegades and the Sydney Sixers. He was Australia's regular Test wicket-keeper from the second test of 2015 Ashes series until being dropped in November 2016. He made his Twenty20 International debut for Australia against South Africa on 4 March 2016. He retired in April 2022.
The 2014 Asia Cup was the twelfth edition of the Asia Cup cricket tournament. The tournament was held in Bangladesh from 25 February to 8 March 2014. Pakistan were the defending champions,having won the previous tournament. The tournament included the four Asian test-playing nations,Bangladesh,India,Pakistan and Sri Lanka;and ICC Asian Associate member Afghanistan. This was the first 50-over tournament in which Afghanistan took part. Ten league matches were played along with the final. The title sponsors of the tournament were Arise India and it was powered by Cycle Agarbathis. Sri Lanka Beat Pakistan in the final to become Asia Cup champions for the fifth time.
Alexander Luke Davies is an English cricketer who plays for Warwickshire. He is a right-handed batsman who also plays as a wicket-keeper. Davies was included in the England Under-19 squad for the 2012 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
The 2014–15 Big Bash League season or BBL|04 was the fourth season of the Big Bash League (BBL),the premier Twenty20 cricket competition in Australia. The fourth edition ran from 18 December 2014 to 28 January 2015. The league ran two weeks longer as compared to the previous season. The opening match of the 2014–15 Big Bash League was played between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars on 18 December at the Adelaide Oval. The format of fourth season is same as previous season. A total of 35 matches will be played during the Big Bash 2014–15 season.
