Tinmaung is a village in Lahe Township, Naga Self-Administered Zone, in the Sagaing Region of northwestern Burma. It is located in the Naga Hills, [1] near the Indian border, to the southwest of Htinpakhwe and northeast of Htun. [2] At the centre of village life is a circle with a grey roofed building, located in its western part. [3] Human sacrifice and headhunting has been documented in the Lahe Township. [4]

As of 2014 the township had a population of 47,658 people and covered an area of 8,174 square kilometres (3,156 sq mi). The township is dominated by the Chindwin River and its tributaries and thickly forested areas. Nearly half the active working population are employed in agriculture, forestry or fishing. The township is a producer of rice, and has reserves of gold and jade being mined.
