Thiruvallur division is a revenue division in the Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu, India. It comprises the taluks of Poonamallee, Uthukkottai and Tiruvallur.
Tiruvallur district, also known as Thiruvallur District, is one of the 38 districts in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The fast developing city of Tiruvallur is the district headquarters. The district has a mixture of urban and rural characteristics. The Eastern part of Tiruvallur district is dominated by urban characteristics while the Northern part of the district has influence of Andhra culture due to its position. As of 2011, the district had a population of 3,728,104 with a sex-ratio of 987 females for every 1,000 males
