Tobias Lindholm (born 5 July 1977) is a Danish screenwriter and film director. His 2015 directed film A War was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. In addition to A War, he has directed the films R (2010), A Hijacking (2012), and The Good Nurse (2022). He has also written for multiple films and TV series.
Lindholm was born in Næstved in 1977. He graduated from the National Film School of Denmark in Copenhagen in 2007.
Lindholm first received attention for his work as a television writer on the popular Danish political TV-series Borgen , credited on all 20 episodes of the series' first two seasons, either as an episode writer or storyline contributor. Then, in 2011, Lindholm was awarded a special Bodil Award for having two feature films Submarino (as co-writer) and R (as director and writer) in competition for that year's Best Danish Film, which the latter movie also won. [1] His hostage drama A Hijacking (2012) premiered at the 2012 Venice Film Festival in the Orizzonti section. [2]
He is also a frequent collaborator with film director Thomas Vinterberg, with whom he has written the screenplays for feature films Submarino (2010), The Hunt (2012) and Another Round (2020)
Lindholm directed the 2015 drama A War (Danish : Krigen) about a Danish military company in Afghanistan that is captured by the Taliban, and the commander is accused of war crimes. [3] The film was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards. [4]
Lindholm is married to film producer Caroline Blanco with whom he has three sons. They live in Copenhagen. [5]

Thomas Vinterberg is a Danish film director who, along with Lars von Trier, co-founded the Dogme 95 movement in filmmaking, which established rules for simplifying movie production. He is best known for the films The Celebration (1998), Submarino (2010), The Hunt (2012), Far from the Madding Crowd (2015), and Another Round (2020). For Another Round he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director, the first Danish filmmaker nominated in the Best Director category.

R won the award for Best Danish Film and its protagonist, Pilou Asbæk, won the award for Best Actor while Trine Dyrholm was named Best Actress. Kurt Ravn and Patricia Schumann (Submarino) won the awards for Best Supporting Actor and Actress. Armadillo won both the awards for Best Documentary and Best Cinematographer. Tobias Lindholm received a Special Award for his contribution as a screenwriter both to R and Submarino. Henning Moritzen was given a Bodil Honorary Award for his contribution to Danish film.
The Bodil Special Award is one of the awards at the annual Bodil Awards presented by the Danish Film Critics Association. While the Bodil Awards as such were established in 1948, the Special Award was first presented in 2008, and has been given annually to a person or an organization who has done something special for Danish cinema.
R is a 2010 Danish prison drama film written and directed by Tobias Lindholm and Michael Noer, and starring Pilou Asbæk. The film was produced by Nordisk Film. The film follows Rune Pedersen, who is serving a prison sentence of two years in Horsens State Prison. Here he is set to do the dirty work of distributing drugs between departments.

Another Round is a 2020 black comedy-drama film directed by Thomas Vinterberg, from a screenplay by Vinterberg and Tobias Lindholm. An international co-production between Denmark, Sweden, and the Netherlands, the film stars Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Bo Larsen, Magnus Millang, and Lars Ranthe. It follows four high school teachers who embark on an experiment to maintain a constant level of intoxication throughout the workday.
