Todd Moscowitz is an American music industry executive and attorney. He is the founder and chief executive officer of Alamo Records, a label acquired by Sony Music Entertainment in 2021. Moscowitz previously served as co-president and chief executive officer of Warner Bros. Records and was a co-founder of the independent record label 300 Entertainment. In 2023 he launched Santa Anna Label Group, a joint venture with Sony Music that provides label and artist services and has invested in labels including OVO Sound. [1]
Moscowitz attended New York University School of Law, where he earned a Juris Doctor. While in law school he worked for Rush Communications, the entertainment company associated with Lyor Cohen and Russell Simmons.
After graduating, Moscowitz briefly worked in the mergers and acquisitions department at the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. He later returned to Rush Communications to help manage the company’s entertainment assets. [2]
While working with companies associated with Def Jam Recordings, Moscowitz held several executive roles including president of Def Jam Music Publishing, president of Def Jam Interactive Gaming, and senior vice president of business affairs at Def Jam Recordings. He later became general manager of Def Jam Recordings. [3]
In 2004 Moscowitz became president of Asylum Records, a label within Warner Music Group. [4]
In September 2010 Moscowitz was appointed co-president and chief executive officer of Warner Bros. Records. [5] He served in the role until January 2013. [6]
In 2013 Moscowitz co-founded the independent record label 300 Entertainment with Lyor Cohen, Kevin Liles, and Roger Gold. [7] The label released music from artists including Young Thug, Fetty Wap, and Megan Thee Stallion. [8]
Warner Music Group acquired 300 Entertainment in December 2021 in a deal reported to be worth approximately $400 million. [9]
In 2016 Moscowitz founded Cold Heat Records, which was later renamed Alamo Records, in partnership with Interscope Records. [10]
The label signed artists including Lil Durk, Rod Wave, and Blackbear. [11]
Sony Music Entertainment acquired Alamo Records in June 2021, with Moscowitz remaining chief executive officer of the label. [12]
In January 2023 Moscowitz launched Santa Anna Label Group, a joint venture with Sony Music focused on label services and artist partnerships. [13]
In 2024 Santa Anna invested in Drake's label OVO Sound and took over the label’s distribution through Sony Music. [14]
The company has also entered distribution partnerships with independent labels including Trill Entertainment. [15]
Moscowitz has also worked as a manager for artists including rapper Gucci Mane. [16]
