Thomas Michael Carter (born 15 September 1987), known professionally as Tom Austen, is an English actor, known for his television appearances portraying Jasper Frost on The Royals and Guy Hopkins on Grantchester .

Early life

Born in the county of Hampshire and raised in Taunton, Somerset, Austen attended Queen's College, Taunton and then the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. [1] His younger brother, Freddy Carter, is also an actor.

Career

Austen's first acting job was portraying rent boy Anto in an episode of the UK series Shameless in 2010. [2] He played multi-episode roles on The Borgias and Beaver Falls in 2012, [1] [2] and starred as Marc Bayard in the police procedural series Jo in 2013. [2] [3] [4] After his costarring role as Grantchester 's Guy Hopkins in 2014, [5] [6] Austen began portraying duplicitous bodyguard Jasper Frost on the E! drama series The Royals in 2015. [7] [8] [9] [10] In October 2019, Austen was cast as Daimon Helstrom in the Hulu series Helstrom . [11]

The Royals is an American primetime television drama soap opera that premiered on E! on March 15, 2015. Created by Mark Schwahn and starring Elizabeth Hurley, it is the network's first scripted series. It began as a loose adaptation of the 2011 Michelle Ray novel Falling for Hamlet. E! renewed it for a second season two months before its debut, and picked up a third season on January 5, 2016. E! renewed it for a fourth season on February 16, 2017, which began airing on March 11, 2018. E! cancelled the series after four seasons in August 2018. Lionsgate Television was shopping the series to other networks with discussions for a pick-up by sister network Pop, but on September 24, Lionsgate failed to find a new home for the series and it was officially cancelled.

Unforgotten is a British crime drama television series, which initially aired on ITV on 8 October 2015. It was created and written by Chris Lang and directed by Andy Wilson. The programme follows a team of London detectives led by DCI Cassie Stuart, DCI Jessie James and DI Sunny Khan as they solve cold cases of disappearance and murder.
