Tom McArdle is an American film editor. He is best known as the editor for the films written and directed by Tom McCarthy, including The Station Agent (2003), The Visitor (2007), Win Win (2011) and The Cobbler (2014). McArdle's latest collaboration with McCarthy in the film Spotlight (2015), got him his nomination for the Academy Award for Best Film Editing at the 88th Academy Awards [1] [2] [3] and also won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Editing. Spotlight is a 2015 American biographical drama film directed by Tom McCarthy and written by McCarthy and Josh Singer. The film follows The Boston Globe's "Spotlight" team, the oldest continuously operating newspaper investigative journalist unit in the United States, and its investigation into cases of widespread and systemic child sex abuse in the Boston area by numerous Catholic priests. Although the plot was original, it is loosely based on a series of stories by the Spotlight team that earned The Globe the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service. The film features an ensemble cast including Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, John Slattery, Stanley Tucci, Brian d'Arcy James, Liev Schreiber, and Billy Crudup.
