Mary Antoinette Rivero (born February 26, 1988), [1] also known as Toni Rivero, is a taekwondo practitioner from the Philippines. She represented the country in the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics. Rivero was born in Makati. [2] [3]

Taekwondo was introduced to the Philippines through the efforts of Kim Bok Man and Young Man Park. Grand Master Kim Bok Man arrived in 1970 to continue Park's legacy of propagating Taekwondo upon the invitation of President Marcos. Kim continued to pioneer Taekwondo worldwide and left the Philippines in 1971. In 1975, Grand Master Hong Sung-chon came to the Philippines to promote Taekwondo, eventually establishing the Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA). The current central headquarters of the PTA is at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex. The PTA is a member of the Kukkiwon, World Taekwondo Federation, Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee and Asian Taekwondo Union.

Hichem Al-Hamdouni is a retired Tunisian taekwondo practitioner. Hamdouni qualified for Tunisia in the men's welterweight category (80 kg) at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens by claiming the bronze medal and receiving a berth from the All-Africa Games in Abuja, Nigeria. Hamdouni outclassed Nigeria's Jacob Obiorah in the opening bout before losing out his next match to Turkey's Bahri Tanrıkulu in a tight decision 4–6. With his opponent advancing further into the final round, Hamdouni offered a second chance for an Olympic medal by aggressively defeating Philippines' Donald Geisler in the first repechage bout that left his opponent with a dislocated ankle and a double tendon injury. Following a straightforward triumph over an injured Filipino taekwondo jin, Hamdouni ended his Olympic campaign in the second repechage round with a default loss of 4–12 against Iran's Yousef Karami.

Charmian Colette "Charmie" Sobers is a retired Dutch taekwondo practitioner of Curaçaoan descent. Sobers qualified for the Netherlands in the women's welterweight category (67 kg) at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens by finishing third and receiving a berth from the European Qualification Tournament in Baku, Azerbaijan. Sobers outclassed Great Britain's Sarah Bainbridge in the preliminary round of sixteen before losing out the quarterfinal match to Philippines' Mary Antoinette Rivero with a default score of 4–10.

Sarah Jane Bainbridge is an English taekwondo practitioner, who competed in the women's welterweight category. She won a gold medal in the 68-kg division at the 1999 European Junior Championships in Nicosia, Cyprus, retrieved a bronze at the 2003 Summer Universiade in Daegu, South Korea, and had been thereby selected to Team GB's four-person taekwondo squad for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Starting her career at age 16, Bainbridge trained full-time for Fleetwood Taekwondo Club in her native Fleetwood, under her personal coach, master, and father Alan Bainbridge.
