Tonje Skinnarland (born 21 December 1967) is a Norwegian major general who served as Chief of the Royal Norwegian Air Force from 2017 to 2021. [1] In June 2021, she was appointed head of operations in the Defense Staff and took up the position in August of the same year. [2] [3]
In 2016, when she took over as Chief of Staff in the Air Force, she became the first female brigadier of that branch. Following the death of Major General Per-Egil Rygg in 2016, Skinnarland served temporarily in the position of General Inspector of the Air Force, before in February 2017 she was officially appointed to the position, which was now renamed as Chief of the Air Defense. She is the first woman to be the Chief of the Air Force, and the first non-pilot in the Air Force.
Skinnarland attended Forsvarets stabsskole and Forsvarets høgskole, [4] and has been Air Wing Commander 130 Air Wing (Station Commander Air Defense Station Mågerø). [5] From 2014 to 2016, she was aide-de-camp of the Air Force at His Majesty the King.
Commander is a common naval officer rank as well as a job title in many armies. Commander is also used as a rank or title in other formal organizations, including several police forces. In several countries this naval rank is termed frigate captain.
The Royal Norwegian Air Force (RNoAF) is the air force of Norway. It was established as a separate arm of the Norwegian Armed Forces on 10 November 1944. The RNoAF's peacetime establishment is approximately 2,430 employees. 600 personnel also serve their draft period in the RNoAF. After mobilization, the RNoAF would consist of approximately 5,500 personnel.

He has commanded the Pacific Air Forces, U.S. Air Forces Central Command, 31st Fighter Wing, 8th Fighter Wing, U.S. Air Force Weapons School, and 78th Fighter Squadron. He has also served as deputy commander of the U.S. Central Command.
Major General Kristin Lund is a retired senior officer of the Norwegian Army. She was the first woman to command a United Nations peacekeeping operation, serving as Force Commander for the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus from 2014 to 2016 and later as Head of Mission/Chief of Staff of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization from 2017 to 2019.
General Per Micael Bydén is the Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces, appointed on 11 September 2015. He was earlier senior commander in the Swedish Air Force. Bydén served as the Chief of Air Force between 2012 and 2015.
Chief of Air Force is the most senior appointment in the Swedish Air Force. The position Chief of Air Force was introduced in 1926 and the current form in 2014.
Major General Mats Eric Helgesson is a retired Swedish Air Force officer. He served as commanding officer of the Blekinge Wing and as Chief of Air Force from 2015 to 2019.

Major General Ann Lena Hallin née Larsson is a retired Swedish Air Force officer. She served as the Director of Military Intelligence and Security from 2019 until her retirement in 2023. Before that, Hallin served as Deputy Director of Military Intelligence and Security, and as commander of the Jämtland Wing and the Command and Control Regiment.
The Norwegian Air Force Band is the official military band of the Royal Norwegian Air Force, based out of Trondheim, a municipality in the Trondheim Region. The band consists of 28 professional musicians who are employed by the Forsvarets musikk. The band participates in parades and ceremonies in the Trondheim Region and performs for Norwegian royalty and the government on behalf of the RNoAF. The RNoAF Band also supports and cooperates closely with the Royal Norwegian Air Force Academy and Ørland Main Air Station. Leif Arne Pedersen has been employed since autumn 2011 as the band's Artistic director and chief conductor, succeeding Ole Edvard Antonsen who had served in this role from 2006–2010. The Administrative Chief and General Manager of the LFMK is Colonel Lieutenant Marius Johansen.
Lieutenant General Carl-Johan Edström is a Swedish Air Force officer. He currently serves as Chief of Joint Operations since 1 January 2023. Prior to that Edström served as Chief of Air Force from 2019 to 2022.
Brigadier General Per Anders Rolfson Persson is a Swedish Air Force officer. Since August 2023, Persson serves as deputy head of Sweden's military delegation to NATO in Brussels, Belgium.
Major General Lena Maria Persson Herlitz née Persson is a Swedish Amphibious Corps officer. She served as Chief of Policy and Plans Department at the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters in Stockholm from 2020 to 2022. Persson Herlitz currently serves as head of the Swedish delegation to the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission (NNSC) in Korea.
Major General Mats Erik Engman is a retired officer in the Swedish Air Force. Engman has served as Deputy Director of Military Intelligence & Security, as Deputy Chief of Policy and Plans Department and as head of the Swedish delegation to the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission (NNSC) in Korea.
Erling Munthe-Dahl was a Norwegian officer who was most notable as Jagervingen's commander at Fornebu Airport during the Norwegian campaign in 1940.
Major General Olof Jonas Wikman is a Swedish Air Force officer. His senior commands include Assistant Chief of Armed Forces Training & Procurement/Chief of Procurement (2017–2021) and as Deputy Chief of Joint Operations (2021–2022). Wikman serves as Chief of Air Force from 14 December 2022.
Lieutenant General Ulf Thomas Nilsson is a Swedish Air Force officer. He currently serves as the Director of Military Intelligence and Security from 1 May 2023. Prior to that Nilsson served as the Chief Information Officer of the Swedish Armed Forces from 2020 to 2022.
Major General Dan Jonny Mattias Lindfors is a Swedish Army officer. Lindfors has served as commander of the Kings Guards Battalion in the Life Guards, of Norrbotten Regiment, and as Assistant Chief of Armed Forces Training & Procurement. He assumed the position of Chief of Army on 18 June 2023.
