Tony D'Alberto Racing, was a motor racing team which competed in the V8 Supercars Championship, an Australian based motor racing series. The team, which was owned by the D'Alberto family, operated a single entry for Tony D'Alberto while on occasion fielding a second car in the second tier Dunlop V8 Supercar Series.

Racing history

Early days

Formed originally as a Formula Ford racing team running a two-year-old Mygale chassis in 2002, the team sat dormant as D'Alberto moved into the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series racing for other teams, including Independent Racing Cars Australia. In 2005 D'Alberto restarted his own team and made steady progress through the Fujitsu Series ranks before winning the series in 2007.

V8 Supercars

During the 2007 endurance racing season, D'Alberto co-drove with his old team Independent Racing Cars Australia, who were now operating the Rod Nash Racing V8 Supercar Racing Entitlement Contract. For 2008 Nash switched his franchise over to the D'Alberto team allowing TDR to race in the V8 Supercar Championship Series for the first time. The team, like all single car teams, has struggled to make progress, and has not matched performances to that of IRCA when they operated the Nash owned franchise.

2009 saw Andrew Thompson join D'Alberto for the endurance event races. Tony finished 26th in qualifying race A at the 2009 L&H 500 and Thompson finished 7th in race B and together a commendable 15th in the feature race. At the 2009 Bathurst 1000 the pair finished 10th in the 1000 km race. TDR and Nash went separate ways for 2010 when TDR brought a franchise to run in the series themselves. [1]

The team ran under the banner of Centaur Racing in 2010 and acquired the services of Shane Price for the endurance races at Phillip Island and Bathurst, while Portuguese World Touring Car Championship driver Tiago Monteiro was signed to compete alongside D'Alberto in the Gold Coast 600 at Surfers Paradise.

In 2011, the team received sponsorship from Wilson Security and would compete under the banner of Wilson Security Racing, and following the season opening round at Abu Dhabi, D'Alberto switched to a Ford FG Falcon built by Ford Performance Racing. D'Alberto's former Walkinshaw built VE Commodore was campaigned as the team's Development Series entry driven by David Wall. Dale Wood joined the team for the endurance events at Phillip Island and Bathurst. Italian formula one driver Vitantonio Liuzzi joined the team for the Gold Coast 600.

For 2012, Wilson Security left the team, being replaced by Hiflex Mobile Hose Service. Dale Wood remained with the team for the endurance events at Sandown and Bathurst. Vitantonio Liuzzi returned for the Gold Coast 600.

The team moved back to Holden for 2013, with technical assistance from Walkinshaw Racing. Hiflex remained with the team for 2013 but the team folded at the end of the 2013 season. Its equipment was sold to Walkinshaw Racing, including the #3 Holden Commodore. After unsuccessfully trying to form an alliance with Tekno Autosports, the Racing Entitlement Contract was returned to V8Supercars. [2] [3]

The 2007 V8 Supercar season featured the ninth V8 Supercar Championship Series which began on 1 March and concluded on 2 December. This championship consisted of 14 rounds covering all states and the Northern Territory of Australia as well as rounds in New Zealand and Bahrain. The series also carried the Australian Touring Car Championship title, which was awarded by CAMS for the 48th time in 2007.

The 2009 V8 Supercar Championship Series was the eleventh V8 Supercar Championship Series and the thirteenth series in which V8 Supercars have contested the premier Australian touring car title. It began on 19 March at the Clipsal 500 on the streets of Adelaide and ended on 6 December at the Homebush Street Circuit and consisted of 26 races over 14 events which were held in all states and the Northern Territory of Australia as well as New Zealand. The 50th Australian Touring Car Championship title was awarded to the winner of the series by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport.

Kelly Racing is an Australian motor racing team which competes in the Dunlop Super2 Series. It formerly competed in the Supercars Championship from 2009 to 2021. The team made its debut in 2009, and raced Holden VE Commodores until the end of the 2012 season. In 2013, the team switched to competing with Nissan Altimas, and was rebranded Nissan Motorsport.

Dale Ian Wood is an Australian racing driver who currently co-drives for Brad Jones Racing's No. 8 Holden ZB Commodore in the Pirtek Enduro Cup. He currently resides in Melbourne, Victoria. He commenced his full-time V8 Supercar career in 2009 with the newly formed team Kelly Racing team, having raced previously for the Tasman Motorsport aligned Greg Murphy Racing Fujitsu series squad. Wood was replaced after the Hidden Valley round although he returned to the team for the endurance race season, pairing up with Jack Perkins. He returned to the team a year later, again in an endurance race role.

Greg Murphy Racing was a V8 Supercar team that competed in the second-tier Australian V8 Supercar series, the Dunlop V8 Supercar Series. The team have also had wild card entries into the V8 Supercar Championship Series endurance races, specifically the Phillip Island 500 and Bathurst 1000, in 2009 and 2010. The team was merged into Evans Motorsport Group towards the end of 2012. The Greg Murphy Racing name is still used for Holden Commodores entered by the predominantly Ford oriented Evans Motorsport Group team.

The 2010 V8 Supercar Championship Series was an FIA sanctioned international motor racing series for V8 Supercars. It was the twelfth V8 Supercar Championship Series and the fourteenth series in which V8 Supercars have contested the premier Australian touring car title. The championship began on 19 February in the Middle East at Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit and concluded on 5 December at the Homebush Street Circuit. These events were held in all states of Australia and in the Northern Territory as well as in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and New Zealand. The 51st Australian Touring Car Championship title was awarded to the winner of the Drivers Championship by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport.

Tekno Autosports was an Australian motor racing team, established in the 1990s initially for the motor racing activities of Stephen Webb, and later his son Jonathon Webb. The team competed in the Supercars Championship using two Holden ZB Commodores built by Triple Eight Race Engineering. Fabian Coulthard and Garry Jacobson are the team's current drivers. At the end of 2021, the Supercars team was sold to Peter Xiberras and rebranded PremiAir Racing.

The 2010 Fujitsu V8 Supercars Series was an Australian motor racing competition for V8 Supercars. It was the eleventh running of the V8 Supercar Development series. The series supported the 2010 V8 Supercar Championship Series, beginning on 11 March at the Clipsal 500 and ending on 5 December at the Sydney 500 after seven rounds.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2011 International V8 Supercars Championship</span>

The 2011 International V8 Supercar Championship was an FIA sanctioned international motor racing series for V8 Supercars. It was the thirteenth V8 Supercar Championship Series and the fifteenth series in which V8 Supercars contested the premier Australian touring car title. It was the first since the series was elevated to the 'International category' status by the FIA. The championship began on 10 February in the Middle East at Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit and finished on 4 December at the Homebush Street Circuit. It was contested over 28 races at 14 events. These events were held in all states of Australia and in the Northern Territory as well as in the United Arab Emirates, and New Zealand. The 52nd Australian Touring Car Championship title was awarded to Jamie Whincup by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport.
