Tony Resch is a retired lacrosse player, and current field and box lacrosse coach. He is the former head coach of the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League from 1994 to 2001, and led the Wings to four Championships. Resch was named to the NLL Hall of Fame in 2008. [1] Resch returned to coaching as the head coach of the Philadelphia Barrage of Major League Lacrosse. Resch graduated from Yale University, where he was a two-time All-American and three-time First Team All-Ivy League player.

Resch also won a gold medal in the 1990 World Lacrosse Championship held in Perth, Australia as a member of Team USA.

He is currently a guidance counselor at La Salle College High School, in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania. He also serves as Defensive Coordinator for the La Salle Lacrosse team, and assistant to head coach Rob Forster. [2] La Salle has won five Pennsylvania State Championships during his coaching tenure. He resides in Flourtown, Pennsylvania with his wife, Mary, and their three sons, Patrick, Brendan, and Conor. Patrick played collegiate lacrosse at Dartmouth College as an undergraduate where he was a two-time captain, and later played at Duke University as a graduate student. Patrick currently plays for Chaos LC in the Premier Lacrosse League. Conor also played lacrosse at Yale University.

NLL playing career

Resch played as a defenseman with the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League for six seasons, and was Team Captain for three seasons. He scored 12 goals and was credited with 10 assists during his playing career. He was a member of the MILL Championship Philadelphia Wings teams in 1989 season and 1990 season.

NLL coaching career

Resch was the Wings Head Coach from 1994 to 2001. Under the guidance of Resch, the Wings went to the playoffs every season he was head coach, and won the Championship in 1994, 1995, 1998, and 2001. As Head Coach of the Wings, Resch had a 59-27 regular season record. [3]

MLL coaching career

Resch joined the Philadelphia Barrage of Major League Lacrosse as head coach in 2005. [4] In his first season as coach, the team finished 4-8, and missed the playoffs.

In his second season as Head Coach in 2006, Resch led the Barrage to the Major League Lacrosse Championship while finishing the regular season 10-2. The Barrage were repeat champions in 2007 with a record of 9-3.

Resch was an Assistant Coach for the Baltimore/Chesapeake Bayhawks during Championship seasons in 2002, 2012, and 2013.

International

In addition to earning a Gold Medal as a player in the 1990 World Lacrosse Championship, Resch was an Assistant Coach for the Gold Medal-winning USA National Teams in 2010 in Manchester, England and 2018 in Netanya, Israel. He was also the Head Coach of the 2015 USA Indoor Team, that earned a Bronze Medal at the 2015 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship played on the Onondaga Reservation in New York.

Awards

In 2001, Resch was presented with the inaugural NLL Coach of the Year award. The award was renamed to the Les Bartley Award in 2004. In 2006 and 2008, Resch was awarded the Warrior Major League Lacrosse Coach of the Year Award. Resch was inducted into the National Lacrosse League Hall of Fame in February, 2008. [5] He was elected to the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame City All Star Chapter in 2011 and the Montgomery County Chapter in 2018.

Tracey Kelusky is a Canadian former lacrosse player and current head coach of Panther City LC. Kelusky played for the Columbus Landsharks, Montreal Express, Calgary Roughnecks, Buffalo Bandits and Philadelphia Wings. While with the Roughnecks, Kelusky was named captain and lead them to titles in 2004 and 2009.

Gary Gait Canadian lacrosse player and coach

Gary Charles Gait is a Canadian retired professional lacrosse player and currently the head coach of the men's lacrosse team at Syracuse University, where he played the sport collegiately. On January 24, 2017, he was named the Interim Commissioner of the United Women's Lacrosse League.

Michael "Mike" G. French is a former three-time All-American lacrosse player at Cornell University from 1974 to 1976, teaming with fellow lacrosse Hall of Fame members Eamon McEneaney, Dan Mackesey, Bill Marino, Tom Marino, Bob Hendrickson, Chris Kane, and Richie Moran to lead the Cornell Big Red to the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship in 1976. French was co-owner, along with Russ Cline and Chris Fritz, as well as Executive Vice-President of the NLL's Philadelphia Wings.

Brian "Doc" Dougherty is an American lacrosse goaltender. He attended The Episcopal Academy before attending University of Maryland. He is currently the head coach at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy.

Tom "Hollywood" Marechek is a retired professional lacrosse player.

Bradley 'Brad' A. Kotz was a four-time All-American NCAA lacrosse player at Syracuse University from 1982 to 1985.

Jake Bergey is a retired lacrosse player. Bergey played ten seasons for the Philadelphia Wings in the National Lacrosse League. Bergey is the son of former NFL star Bill Bergey, and brother of fellow lacrosse player Josh Bergey.

John Christmas is an American lacrosse player for the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League and for the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse.

Dave Huntley was a Canadian lacrosse player and head coach and general manager with the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League. Huntley played collegiate lacrosse at Johns Hopkins University where he helped his team win two national championships. In 1979, Huntley was honored with the McLaughlin Award, which is presented annually to the nation's most outstanding college lacrosse midfielder. His son, Kevin Huntley, was also an All-American at Johns Hopkins. Huntley was also the first ever head coach for the Toronto Nationals. David Huntley died December 18, 2017 after suffering a heart attack while attending a box lacrosse game in Delray Beach, Florida.

Lacrosse has been played in Pennsylvania since the 19th century. There are many respected amateur programs at the club, college, and high school level, as well as several respected past and present professional teams in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) and Major League Lacrosse (MLL).

Kevin Crowley is a Canadian professional lacrosse player for the Philadelphia Wings in the National Lacrosse League and the Philadelphia Barrage in Major League Lacrosse. Crowley is one of only three players in the history of lacrosse to be drafted first overall in both professional leagues. Crowley attended New Westminster Secondary School and played his collegiate lacrosse at Stony Brook University.

Bill Miller was a three-time first-team All-American NCAA lacrosse player at Hobart College from 1988 to 1991.

Drexel Dragons mens lacrosse

The Drexel Dragons men's lacrosse team represents Drexel University in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's lacrosse. Drexel currently competes as a member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and plays its home games at Vidas Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Drexel made its first NCAA tournament appearance in 2014.
