Tore Sagvolden (born 27 February 1959) is a Norwegian orienteering competitor. He is four times Relay World Champion, in 1981, [1] 1983, [2] 1985 [3] and 1987. [4] He obtained silver in the Individual World Orienteering Championships 1981, [1] 1985 [3] and 1987, and bronze in 1979. [5]

Jörgen Mårtensson is one of the most successful Swedish orienteer of all times. Twice a winner of the World Orienteering Championships, he also won the 5 days O-Ringen in 1981, 1996 and 1997. Furthermore, he won the Swedish Championship in Marathon at Stockholm Marathon in 1993. Now retired, he had one of the longest spanning careers in orienteering at world class level, taking part in World Championships over a period of twenty years. Starting with the 1978 World Orienteering Championships, where he placed eighth in the individual contest, he competed in every world championship until 1997.

Kari Sallinen is a Finnish orienteering competitor. He was the first Finn who won the Individual World Orienteering Championships. The competition was held in the year 1985 in Bendigo, Australia. He was also part of the Finnish team that obtained bronze in the 1981 Relay World Championship in Thun, Switzerland.

Morten Berglia is a Norwegian orienteering competitor.

Øyvin Thon is a Norwegian orienteering competitor, and has seven gold medals at the World Orienteering Championships.

Urs Flühmann is a Swiss orienteering competitor. He is two times Relay World Champion, as a member of the Swiss winning teams in 1991 and 1993, as well as having a silver medal from 1987 and a bronze medal from 1985. He also obtained bronze in the Individual World Championship in 1987.

Ragnhild Bratberg is a Norwegian orienteering competitor and a cross-country skier. In orienteering, she won the overall Orienteering World Cup in 1988, and represented Norway several times in the World Orienteering Championships relays, winning medals in 1985, 1987 and 1991. In ski orienteering she won four individual gold medals at the World Ski Orienteering Championships, and once in the relay. She was awarded Egebergs Ærespris in 1988.

Brit Volden is a Norwegian orienteering competitor. Her achievements include two individual silver medals, and one gold and one silver medal in the relay at the World Orienteering Championships. She also won the unofficial World Cup in 1983 and placed second overall in 1984 and 1988.

Kjell Lauri was a Swedish orienteering competitor. His achievements include winning a world championship gold medal in the relay with the Swedish team, and three more medals in relay.

Lars Lönnkvist is a Swedish orienteering competitor. He is Relay World Champion from 1979, as a member of the Swedish winning team, along with Rolf Pettersson, Kjell Lauri, and Bjorn Rosendahl. He also won silver medals in the 1978 and 1981 relays, and a bronze medal in 1983 and 1987. He placed fifth in the individual contest in the 1979 World Championships, and fourth in 1981.

Harald Thon is a Norwegian orienteering competitor who represented the club IF Sturla and the Norwegian national team. He was part of the Norwegian winning team in relay at the World Orienteering Championships in 1981 and 1983.

Atle Hansen is a Norwegian orienteering competitor and world champion. He won a gold medal in the relay event at the 1985 World Orienteering Championships in Bendigo, together with Morten Berglia, Tore Sagvolden and Øyvin Thon. He finished overall second in the first unofficial World Cup in 1983. He was national junior champion in the individual event in 1980 and again in 1981, and received a silver medal in the individual event at the Nordic Orienteering Championships for juniors in Borlänge in 1980.

Ruth Humbel is a Swiss politician (CVP) who was a member of the Federal Assembly from 2003 to 2023. She is also an orienteering competitor at international level. She won bronze medals in the relay at the World Orienteering Championships in 1978, 1981 and 1985. She placed fourth in the individual event at the 1981 World Championships, and fifth in the relay in 1979.

Willi Müller is a Swiss orienteering competitor who participated in five World Orienteering Championships in the 1970s and 1980s. He won a bronze medal with the Swiss relay team at the 1985 World Orienteering Championships.

Martin Howald is a Swiss orienteering competitor. He participated at the 1985 World Orienteering Championships in Bendigo, where he won a bronze medal in the relay, together with Willi Müller, Urs Flühmann and Alain Gafner. At the 1981 World Orienteering Championships he placed 9th in the individual contest, and fifth with the Swiss relay team.

Jaroslav Kačmarčík is an orienteering competitor who competed for Czechoslovakia. At the 1979 World Orienteering Championships in Tampere he won a bronze medal in the relay, together with Petr Uher, Zdeněk Lenhart and Jiří Ticháček.

Brigitte Zürcher is a Swiss orienteering competitor at international level. At the World Orienteering Championships in Zalaegerszeg in 1983 she placed fifth with the Swiss relay team. She won a bronze medal in the relay at the World Orienteering Championships in Bendigo in 1985.

Frauke Sonderegger is a Swiss orienteering competitor at international level. At the World Orienteering Championships in Zalaegerszeg in 1983 she placed 12th in the individual contest and fifth with the Swiss relay team. She won a bronze medal in the relay at the World Orienteering Championships in Bendigo in 1985.
