Wakeboarding is a water sport in which the rider, standing on a wakeboard, is towed behind a motorboat across its wake and especially up off the crest in order to perform aerial maneuvers. A hallmark of wakeboarding is the attempted performance of midair tricks. Wakeboarding was developed from a combination of water skiing, snowboarding and surfing techniques.
Water skiing is a surface water sport in which an individual is pulled behind a boat or a cable ski installation over a body of water, skimming the surface on two skis or one ski. The sport requires sufficient area on a stretch of water, one or two skis, a tow boat with tow rope, two or three people, and a personal flotation device. The Canadian International AutoShow (CIAS) is Canada's largest auto show. This event has been held in Toronto, Ontario, since 1974 and is staged annually in February at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Shaun Murray is an American four-time World champion wakeboarder, and the main character featured in Activision O2's video game Wakeboarding Unleashed Featuring Shaun Murray developed by Shaba Games and released on June 3, 2003 for PlayStation 2, Xbox and Game Boy Advance. A PC port was developed by Beenox and published by Aspyr, releasing on December 22, 2003. A playable demo version of the game was available in the Options menu for the PlayStation 2 version of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4.
Wakesurfing is a water sport in which a rider trails behind a boat, riding the boat's wake without being directly pulled by the boat. After getting up on the wake, typically by use of a tow rope, the wakesurfers will drop the rope, and ride the steep face below the wave's peak in a fashion reminiscent of surfing. Wakesurfers generally use special boards, designed specifically for wakes.
Twiggy the Water-Skiing Squirrel is an animal novelty act featuring an eastern gray squirrel who skis around a heated pool. The original Twiggy was adopted in 1978 by Florida roller-skating rink owners Chuck and Lou Ann Best. They taught her to water ski, which made international news. The Best family began traveling with Twiggy for national tours, film appearances, and media profiles. Forty years after Twiggy's debut, Chuck and Lou Ann Best's son, Chuck Jr, took over operations of the squirrel performances. Twiggy doesn't mind water-skiing, according to Lou Ann Best, who told The Washington Post in 2016 "there's nothing unnatural about what she's doing."
Nautique Boat Company is an American boat manufacturer that produces boats primarily for waterskiing, wakeboarding and wakesurfing. With models in the Super Air Nautique and Ski Nautique lines, they are widely considered the gold standard in the inboard towboat market. Owned by parent company, Correct Craft, Nautique is a member of the oldest family-owned and operated boat manufacturer in the world.

Water skiing competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto was held from July 20 to 23 at the Ontario Place West Channel. The competition was split into two disciplines, water skiing and wakeboarding. Men and women will contest the water skiing events and the wakeboard board competition is only open to men. Therefore, there will be a total of nine medal events in the sport.

Judy McClintock-Messer is a Canadian former water skier. She won the Masters Water Ski Tournament in 1981 and the Water Ski World Championships in 1985 and 1995.
A number of real-life and virtual reality exhibits of Vincent van Gogh's paintings have been staged around the world since the 2000s. The for-profit events range across venues, organizers, and locations, though the majority have been held in North America in 2021 and 2022. The events are typically set up in large gallery spaces. The Ontario Games program is Ontario, Canada's largest multi-sport amateur event which involves hosting and organizing separate events for athletes aged 9–18 years, parasport athletes, and athletes 55 and older. The program is provided by the Government of Ontario's Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries. Games Ontario is the provincial crown corporation charged with organizing this multi-sport event under the title of "Ontario Games".
