Toyin Tofade is the 10th president of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and the first Black woman to hold that position. [1] [2] [3] [4]
She obtained a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from Obafemi Awolowo University,Ile-Ife, [5] [6] a master's degree in Pharmacy Practice and a doctor of pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, Chapel Hill. [7]
In 2016, Tofade became the Dean and Professor at the Howard University College of Pharmacy in Washington, D.C. [6] [8] [9]
In 2020, she was appointed president-elect of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) academic pharmacy section, making her the first female black woman to be named an FIP fellow. [3] [7] She was also named chair-elect of the council of deans for the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy that year.
In 2022, Tofade was awarded the Donald Francke Medal by the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists for "significant international contributions to advance pharmacy practice." [10]
