Pelotica de goma (transl. little rubber ball) is a variation of baseball in which the only equipment used is a rubber ball. The batter starts off with the ball, hits it with a hand, and then begins running the bases, with the rest of the gameplay being similar to baseball. [7] Baseball5 is a similar sport created by the World Baseball Softball Confederation which was partially inspired by this game. [8] [9] Pelotica de goma is also used to close the hueco del desagüe.

Oswaldo José Guillén Barrios is a Venezuelan-American former professional baseball player who is the current manager of Tiburones de La Guaira of the Venezuelan League. He played in Major League Baseball as a shortstop for 16 seasons, primarily with the Chicago White Sox, from 1985 to 2000. During that time, he won the American League Rookie of the Year Award and also a Gold Glove. He was considered one of the best defensive shortstops of his era. Guillen later managed the Chicago White Sox from 2004 to 2011, winning the World Series in 2005 and then moving to the Miami Marlins in 2012.

Bat-and-ball games, or safe haven games, are field games played by two opposing teams. Action starts when the defending team throws a ball at a dedicated player of the attacking team, who tries to hit it with a bat and then run between various safe areas in the field to score runs (points). The defending team can use the ball in various ways against the attacking team's players to force them off the field when they are not in safe zones, and thus prevent them from further scoring. The best known modern bat-and-ball games are cricket and baseball, with common roots in the 18th-century games played in England.
